one thing I have learnd about the Atlas Brabhan - the plastic is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyy brittle. DOes NOT take to hole drilling at all.

After a complete sanding as the body cracked in 2 places, repaint and rebuild , slowly getting there again.

It cost less than a Mr Slotcar Jaguar 220, and I don't count postage costs in the price.

Hi Jeremy, unless they are hidden from view, you may want to seriously consider using your locating pins to hold/align the front axle............if the wheelbase is such that the holes in the front of the  jig do not allow a perfect wheelbase alignment,...you can move the rear pins to an alternate rear set of holes (the rear are slightly staggered to allow for this).

PS while this is not imperative on most plastic chassis (as the front axle does have some fore/aft movement),....for chassis with a front axle tube, or ,if you install one in your plastic chassis (a very good idea) the front axle locating pins are highly recommended

Yes, the jig has identified front axle front/rear play. Is this solved by slipping ferrels over the axle to take up the slack?

You can do better than common ferrules (they are not really precision bits)...........if you can wait until mid March (I am away until then) I will send you some precision bushings made specifically for the front ends of most plastic chassis...these reduce the fore/aft play of the axle (this reduces the tendency of the front wheels to "Steer" the car).

I will send a couple of types.......... the first ones will fit most Slot-it/NSR/Scaleauto front axle uprights, and are made on the long side so that the front end grub screws run on the bushing not the axle.




The second type can be used either as front or rear bushings, and the reduced outer diameter allows them to fit in a variety of applications.....reduced dia, on the left, 3/32 x 3/16 oilite on the right.  (these are great for replacing the rear bushings on Slot-it/Scaleauto pods.


   

These are particularly handy for the front end of several types of chassis........here they are used on the front end of a Policar F1 car.........much better

They are installed with just a hint of play, (not glued) ....the vertical axle location is still controlled/adjusted by the grub screws.
