Shaping sprayed PU-foam in one end and styrofoam in the other end. Styrofoam and heated wire is far less messy :)

Hello Niklasw,
How are you going to spilt the sections or hinge the boards?

I haven't decided yet. Only splitting I suspect might be heavy to handle. Having a hinge might make it easier to handle but I am pretty sure it will make it hard to disconnect/connect the track pieces.
The latest thing I've started to consider is to remove the small latches that locks the track pieces together, to simplify the connect/disconnect of them... Perhaps doing something similar to what some do on routed tracks that can be disassembled, with pieces of braid on the edges of the base board that gets pushed together?

Hello NiklasW,
You will need to make sure that the track surface and rails all meet up neatly so that there is no bump. If the rails do not match up smoothly the car braids will get damaged. That is why the Scalextric track has the "pegs" to join from one piece to the next.
Routed tracks generally have dowel rods inserted to align the boards when pushed together.

Latest update. All landscape shapes are finished. Had to do some final small changes to the track again. Pleased with the idea of having a raised pit area in the centre which creates natural "borders" for the curves around it. Also using some CAD (cardboard aided design) to start building curbs using black foam.

[attachment=33597]Perhaps a well known “trick”? But I bought artificial golf putting green grass that is 11,5mm tall. Seems to be working very well with Scalextric.

I hope you realize that you now need a 1/32 lawn mower.
Looks good.
