Strongly recommend Greg without any hesitation. You will not be disappointed with the repair nor his communication throughout the repair.

Do not hesitate to contact him for his chip repairs. Go do that PM now, you will not regret it.

Another Rev H C8515 chip .....

The MOSFETs have blown. These chaps control the braking and running of the car. More often or not only one of them blow, so when repairing them I always replace both with higher spec ones.

As on a previous repair on one of these latest chips, there is slight damage apparent on the infrared LED. This time it is OK but an eye should kept on this newer chips if you start to experience missed laps or lane changes.

Here's a nice one ......... I was asked to produce the flattest chip that I could but it had to be industrial strength and be re-flashed with Incar-Pro firmware ....

The original version of the C7005 is in the background and the turbo nutter-barstud sits quietly in the foreground ....

The differences are more easily seen when viewed from a slightly higher angle ....
 
 
The MOSFETs where uprated to handle higher amperages and the shottkee diodes, well, they are beauties and Ian Harding's ICP firmware is simply brilliant with hotter motors. Getting rid of the analogue baggage is so cool  ..... 
 
 
 
 
 
  This repair may or may not appear on terrestrial in the near future .....

A small box arrived on my doorstep ..... it was from some of my regulars, all the way from Trinidad & Tobago ..... one of the more exotic slot car countries of the World ...

19 chips of all shapes and sizes .... a mixture SP12s, SP15s and 15Bs a good sprinkling of C7005s ...
 

This little lot should keep me busy and out of mischief for a while ....

An F1 DPR chip arrived on my doorstep to be fixed. It looked perfectly OK but would not run when connected to a chassis and tested on a powerbase. After a check of the components, I found that three of the four diodes were not working at all so I replaced them with 1A Schottkys .........



All still looking OK ....... time to test my handy work .......




Reassembled back onto the testbed, I pulled the throttle back and woomph! ... very bright flames & tons of acrid smoke.

As you can see, the dual MOSFETs, top left, has decided to expire. It is a dual MOSFET bereft of any magical smoke, it is an ex-MOSFET.

An C7005 F1 chip ......



I've marked the damage on this side where NO2 should be. The transistors (A8Es) on the left have been removed as well, just in case
there is further, unseen damage.




On the other side, FB1 has literally melted in half. This ferrite-bead leads to the +ve motor wire which happens to be the black wire.

Next up are a couple of SP15 repairs ......




The dual MOSFET chip has melted and released it's quota of smoke and vapours ....


Sometimes, the evidence for the chips failure is not always quite so easy ...



The larger arrow shows a degree of discolouration on the solder pad of a diode. A further clue to the problem is highlighted
by the smaller arrow, is an adjacent solder has turned orange from a normal silver. These features are caused by
excessive heat ....... note: the wires for the braid pickups have been removed for clarity.
