I have taken a huge liking to the BRM brand . Maybe in my old age I like the size ?. However the quality is outstanding!

I decided I wanted to build the Piper P4 version as it raced at Kyalami in the Springbok series in the 60s. Thus I bought the white kit.

While the quality of the parts is impressive the complete lack of instructions is curious to say the least. There is a single picture of the parts in the area where they fit. Seen in pic below.

So I sat for an hour or so fitting parts a looking where the fit. I then had to deduce the order of the build .
I had a file for the decals which I printed an started after painting
Greetings,

I found an old resin blank model in the family work shop. My dad and uncle used to race and paint slot cars for many years before their passing. I was curious if anybody on here might be able to help me with more information about this blank.
From the information in the box, it may have come from Flash Point Motorsports in California but I don't think they're in business anymore. This is an old blank. Possibly 20 years or more. Thanks for any information that can be provided.

I like it. A good excuse to paint and build another car.

I figured I should start a build thread for this new project, I think someone might be interested in it.

This is a "heavy" body that Fola makes and is intended to just paint and run. I however, want to make a car that resembles something Michael Niemas would make, and thus will need to perform surgery to achieve the finish I want to achieve. It's going to take a lot of work and will take a lot of time for epoxy work, sanding, shaping, more epoxy, etc...
Here's what I received in the original box, along with some new paints I ordered.

I thought the chassis comes with axles, bearings and other bits to make a complete running chassis, but I was mistaken. I didn't realize my last car from Fola had all the parts because he created a kit for me, so I placed another order for all the parts that were missing.

I started cutting out the body and shaping the wheel arches

I started building the chassis to get the wheel fitment, and drew in the front door arches that I need to create. You can see the outer layer of body I removed because it wasn't adhered to the weave underneath - that's happened all over the car and essentially has "bubbles" that I need to fill and fix

Wonder if there are more folk here thinking about the design of the Revoslot and BRM chassis.

I have a few of the new (big) BRM chassis GT90 and Legend (Porsche and Ferrari) cars.

I wonder the purpose of the chassis plates and the movement. I have read different ideas - the body screws tight and let the float come from the chassis, loosen the body screws and put tape on the chassis to quieten it down and reduce movement

So what type of track were these cars designed for - plastic track which was bumpy and if so does that mean that taping the chassis would be better for wood tracks?

Wonder what people's thoughts are?

It has been 25 years since Dale won the Daytona 500. Been there and saw
my first race in person in Daytona. As a homage I wanted to built a Monte
built detailed kits for display only but not this time) to race on Carrera tracks.
The plan was to get this done this year, so i collected all the tracks
to build a small Daytona Track and get the car to race. I used one of those
kits that came in a tin from Revell. Sure enough when I was ready to apply
the decals, they fell apart. So I had to get a new set of decals. I also got in
contact with a stencil seller to have tire letter stencils made for it. The car
sits on a Sakatsu chassis, Revell Kit, Driver figure comes from the
Monogram Lumina kit. Raced it a few weeks ago and it was pure fun. Pure
memories.

If you are in the same boat like me, than here is a solution.
I struggle with the tire decals as they don't have that real feeling to me.
Aside from that they hardly stay on. Recently built a Nascar #3 slotcar
that I had applied the kit supplied decals to the tires. They would not stay
on, fell apart, cause they were old and applying a flat clear really destroyed
the look. So I came across a seller of stencils who was doing the old white
style letter Tire stencils. Decided to ask him if he could produce stencils that
have those lines running through the letters. So we exchanged some
thoughts and he agreed to get a stencil done. Just arrived and I painted the
tires and it looks lightyears better than the decals. These stencils will go into
mass production available for everybody. So if you like the look, here is
another and I think better option than decals. I used Tamyia XF3 and XF2 to
mix the yellow. I used a full glass of XF3 and added 85-90% XF2 to come
up with the color.
No more issues with decals coming off, replacing tires and no decals at hand.
Just clean the tires and repaint as needed. As often as needed. Nail
the painted look of the real deal.
