Twenty-three of us enjoyed an excellent night of Scalextric digital racing at the Barn at the start of July. Taking the opportunity to try out our WHO digital format for the first time were Chas, Dick and Jo. For the less experienced, it was the chance of some valuable track time and loads of pit stop practice.

On Wednesday 26 August, we'll host our first WHO Dakar Rally Raid Fun Night, featuring two SCX and two Ninco off-road stages. One of the SCX stages will be reserved for vehicles with the longer drop arms (i.e. SCX, older Avant, Scaleauto Dakar, Mitoos etc.), the other three catering for all Rally Raid vehicles with drop arms and suspension.

Suitable club cars and controllers will be ready for duty on each stage. So you don't have to have a vehicle to experience the fun.

Although advertised as a 'fun night' there will be a competitive edge. The plan is to have at least some of the evening dedicated to timed runs.

If you fancy a trip to the south coast, let us know. Doors open at 6pm and we'll run through to 9-9.30pm. Entry is £3 for adults, £2 for under-16s.

We are at The Barn, English Martyrs Church Hall, Goring Way, Goring-by-Sea, West Sussex BN12 4UE. If you search 'Worthing HO Racing' in any navigation app, you'll find us. There's parking on the slip road outside the Barn and in the car park just next to the church. Goring-by-Sea railway station is 5 minutes walk away and various local buses (including Stagecoach 701 & 11) stop outside in both directions. The Barn is wheelchair accessible and has a disabled toilet cubicle.

Just thought I'd chuck this in here.
I'd been thinking about knocking up a model railway of some description for quite a while (I *almost* got into it as a kid, but was hampered by not enough space and not enough money/resources.
But fast forward 40 years, and I find myself with not only a reasonably spacious apartment and plenty of cash, but a wonderful sense of utter freedom having escaped from The Beast after 21 years.
And that means I can do what the bloody hell I like, when and how I like it!

So given that I've got a giant Scalextric track going on, I'm seriously into LEGO, and I needed something to scale, the LEGO train route made total sense.
Thus, I obtained a bundle of second hand stuff from eBay for 30 King-heads, and another package of track bits for 20. In the first bundle, was a basic train motor unit (the original kit was one of those 'Wild West' American locomotive sets), to which I added own diesel shunter type design, and mini shipping containers onto the basic flat wagons.
Crucially though, is the replacement power source - a phone bank charger now powers both the train and the lights.....and lasts over 36 hours
Now, I'm so new here, the paint is still wet.
But I thought I'd share the latest incarnation of my layout.
As I mentioned in my 'Introduce Yourself' post, almost a year ago, I was gifted 5 full sets of Scalextric, which were a mixture of old and new track/connector type, followed by yet another kit (an old but complete Rallye Internationale) gifted by someone else, then a Jaguar XJ220/Ferrari F40 kit practically *stolen* from a charity shop for 15 Sterlings, along with lashings of separate bits-&-bobs of track from eBay, and new stuff from the model shop in town.
Predictably though, it was a tad flakey and unreliable in places, specifically due to the older stuff, so I've now completely ditched that in favour new style track now.
I also plumbed in a custom LEGO train, because why not:

And here's a leisurely drive around:

I've been looking for a decent website/community specifically for Scalextric-botherers, and it would certainly appear that I've found it.
So, many many moons ago when I was about 11, my Sister showed up one Sunday afternoon with a box of random Scalextric bits-&-bobs, procured from an auction house that very day. And while it was a welcome gift and had a fairly reasonable selection of stuff, it didn't take long for a slightly extended figure of eight to get boring, in tandem with the annoyance of dodgy connections and a lack of replacement braids getting on my tits.
So a couple of months later, it got boxed back up and donated to a local charity shop.
Fast forward 40 years to last August, and history repeated itself - but on a much grander scale - because I was gifted *five* (yes....five :O) full Scalextric sets, mint and boxed, alongside a bunch of accessories, from a couple who were moving abroad.

Good Morning,
i have just moved into a one bed flat in Southampton, UK, after previously living in a larger house for many years, so storage space is in short supply,
I have 3 sets of Boxed Scalextric (untested recently) , from the late 1980-1995 period that were stored before in the previous house loft attic,
One 24hr Le-Mans set and two Formula One Racing boxed sets.

Le Mans C.742
F1 C.1035
F1 Megasound C.625

It seems a real shame to just take them down to the local recycling centre/rubbish tip.
I was wondering if there were any suggestions for a club or society that would like them as a donation,
Obviously they would have to collect from me here in Southampton, as i will not be looking to post the sets.
Thanks
Stuart, Southampton.

The second running of our WHO Summer stages saw 24 drivers and 64 cars take to four stages, all of which had been used for the recent Slot Rally GB event, but with some modifications...

1. Friston Forest: SCX and Scalextric Classic (plus trees!!)
2. Jupp's Farm: Ninco off-road (a new configuration for this event)
3. Burpham & Wepham: Ninco tarmac (a longer version for this event)
4: Roundstone: Scalextric Sport (slightly changed from its first running)

There was no specific shakedown stage this time, with short runs permitted on Roundstone to test any new cars.

We welcomed Lee and Cedric from Solent Slot Car Club and Neil who'd joined us for the evening all the way from St Albans Slot Car Club.
All racers could enter a maximum of three cars, one in each class - Classic, 80s/90s and Modern - all running to Slot Rally GB regulations. Only Stephen A was utilising the club cars this evening - and he'd get two timed runs on each stage.

wow, cant believe i decided to jump down this rabbit hole, lol. When I was a kid , had a Strombeker track with a huge banked curve that came from Montgomery Ward. Lots of memories, several neighborhood kids had tracks and we went from house to house, usually Mothers telling us we were to loud.
Im old now, in my 70s, most my childhood friends have passed on but Im itching to make a race track.
I want 1/32 digital track and was set on Carrera but one of the first post I read on another forum was ...Im firing Carrera for some other digital equipment. But those Carrera cars. such eye candy, lol. But you gotta start somewhere, right??
I will build a 6ft x 8ft table, in two sections with rollers and have seen a couple on You Tube that was really kewl. I am hoping for a decent long straight to start race into a bank curve. Would like to include a big wide enough bridge that would have lanes running underneath it , to seem cars are going into a tunnel, pitt stops , hair pin if possible and digital lane changers.
Appreciate all advice and tips,
