I am relatively new to the hobby but have found my preference is to run 1/32 cars on a Carrera Go 1/43 track. The main reasons for using the Carrera Go is that I can obviously run a lot more track on my 8 x 5 ft space and compared to my Policar 1/32 track set, the Carrera runs at nearly twice the speed and no, it's not an optical illusion.
I have half a dozen 1/43 scale cars, mostly Carrera, which in my view are the best at this scale. But as my main interest is classic cars from the 60s, 1/32 Scalextric are the way to go for me. I have a number of pre BMW Minis and Jag E-Types, that run really well on the 1/43 track. I have found that wider cars, like my Mark 1 Jaguar, can slip a back wheel off track, on the inside of curves, so have added foam to help alleviate this.
I intend to widen most of the track with foam and also make a start at some landscaping. Here's a rough photo of my current 1/43 layout.
