Bought on a whim, this cheap souvenier London Bus sat on the shelf in its box for some time before the penny dropped and I thought of the possibility of motorising it.
Comparison to a US1 chassis showed it was a match made in heaven. The wheelbase was identical, the track almost perfect and the chassis looked as if it might just fit inside the bodyshell.
To cut a long story short - it did. All the mods were to the bus to make space for the chassis, which is a TIGHT friction fit. All of the upper deck, the rear stairs and the drivers cab have been retained. The chassis itself is hidden behind the body sides, JUST stopping short of the windows, which being tinted help to disguise it anyway.
Although it looked like it might be unstable it runs just fine. The weight of the diecast body slows the top speed and also helps traction and road holding.
