Price discrepancies
#1

The price of a bog standard 1/32 Carrera car in the UK is £49.99. Without VAT it is £41.25.

The same car in the USA is $35.99 before sales tax which equates to £28.50 at current exchange rates.

£12.75 difference is one hell of a price discrepancy!  Rip off Britain in action or some other reason? No it is not due  to Brexit - as far as I am aware the USA is not part of the EU either.

Strangely Standard Scalextric cars are on a par price wise in both countries while Slot.It are usually slightly dearer in the USA. So why is Carrera different?

Carrera 1/32 cars here in Australia are priced at $70 for analog and $99 for digital at hobby stores and online sellers.

That makes them around £35 and £50 or $45 and $65 US$ -  that includes a 10% GST (VAT)

I have noticed of late prices in the UK seem to have gone up across all slot cars brands I think in many cases they used to be comparable and sometime cheaper here (once converted) but not anymore.
We have seen Scalextric cars go up here - they tend to be at the $85-$105 mark. I can buy a Revoslot for $115 and a slot.it for $90-$95 - Thunderbolts are around $125 - for me the way those 3 run compared to a Scalextric means the Scalextric has to be pretty special to buy it.
