Hi Guys,
Ok the product previously known as "Dyno" will be known as "Motor Analyser".
Suitable for any slot car motor, for both analogue and digital users.
Digital users will be aware of back EMF from motors that flows back into the digital car decoder. Big electrical spikes prevents the microprocessor from doing its job, which can affect lap counting, lane changing and car control.
What causes it? Cheap motors, dud motors, motors with micro pieces of braid picked up off the track and kept inside the motor by the magnets. The gap between the armature and magnet is now reduced, causing micro shorts. These shorts go back into the chip and cause issues. 3 capacitors on the motor reduce this but not 100%. Carrera and Scorpius employ the 3 capacitor technique. In fact the next MPD p[rototype comes with a 3 cap set upon a tiny PCB ala Carrera. However some motors will still produce spikes that the 3 cap method cant prevent.
BEMF DETECTION
So what if we were to analyse each motor and discard bad ones? But how? The new MPD has not only BEMF reduction, it also has BEMF protection. Soon you will be able to simply run the motor, either on the bench or in the car to test. You'll need the Scorpius dongle and software. Simply run the motor and look at the amount of BEMF.
RPM
The MPD will be the worlds first inbuilt tacho, again to analyse motors. Got a big race coming up? It's not uncommon for serious racers to test 10 motors and use the best one. Here the MPD can quickly tell you.
TORQUE
Likewise you can detect torque and use it to make motor choices. g/cm
POWER
Like wise you will be able to see power in watts.
Essentially you have a digital dyno built in. All in a 22x13mm chip!
A rolling road is also possible if you want to add load.
Slot cars are entering a new age. Here it comes.
