Hi Guys,
I'm working on this 2 lane lap counter that comes with 2 IR LEDS and 2 Photo Transistors, all on flyleads. Runs on 5-16V DC. Both LEDs and PTs are 3mm in diameter.
It is based on the MPD.
It will come with 2 outputs, one per lane, to trigger lane relays.
It will also come with a track call switch once completed.
The MPD lap counter will need to be in RF mode to send lap data wirelessly to your PC or laptop then onto Race Coordinator.
The telemetry required to make this happen is already written.
What's required is the firmware to say when Phototransistor A cannot see IR LED B then send message C to PC or App to add a lap. This should be reasonably straight forward.
What's cool is that soon you'll be able to use your phone to put this unit into Bluetooth mode in order to send lap count data direct to the SmartRace app. No PC required. You can also mirror your phone to your big screen.
To time 4 lanes use 2 units. 6 lanes requires 3 units. If it happens it will be 2025 and each unit (ex power supply) will be around $125AUD plus GST.
Power can be piggybacked off the main track power supply.
