It has taken a while but the architecture for the Nitrous system for Carrera to be finalised, but well worth the wait. Many ways to utilise some or all options to suit all types of users and budgets.

Level 1: MPD car decoder in Carrera native mode.
Level 2: Controller: Use Controller and Scorpius to Carrera Bluetooth Dongle (hardwire from unit to CU) for use with Carrera native system and enhanced Nitrous system.
Level 3: Add in MPD Car Decoder using Scorpius protocols for full Nitrous system.
Level 4: Add in Nitrous RF to Bluetooth converter to enable MPD to/from App.
Level 5: Add in MPD Lane Brain in Carrera mode for track comms for pit lane detection, pit bay detection 1-6, programmable race line, sector timing and lane changing for Carrera timber track builders.

2. Plug the Nitrous dongle into port three of the Carrera CU.
3. Place 2 AAA batteries into the Scorpius controller.
4. Set car ID using the Scorpius controller.
5. Race. No registrations, set up time or firmware upgrades required.

The controller now talks directly to various and CU simultaneously.

Today after 2 years of development the Nitrous concept became reality.
With the MPD you can load Scorpius, Carrera or Nitrous firmware in around 30 seconds.

MPD CAR DECODER
The following is a list of  things never seen before for Carrera users

Still limited to 6 cars, a Carrera driver can now access all the Scorpius goodies. The best ones are throttle and braking control, but there are other cool functions.

Firstly whats required?
1. MPD car decoder with Nitrous firmware installed.
2. Nitrous Dongle.
3. Scorpius controller.
4. Optional Scorpius Dongle.

The Carrera CU is still used exactly as you would normally use it. All the Carrera functions are 100% available. Access to the SmartRace app is not affected.

Some basic yet nice things are that you can turn lights on and off on the fly. And toggle low to high beam even on a standard Carrera car (with factory lights). You can also flash high beam. On standard Carrera you can only turn lights on/off when the car is stationary. We also have the optional super capacitor so lights don’t flicker on/off over the little dead spots on the lane changers.
We also have flashing lights for a safety car and 2 exhaust simulator LEDs. So that’s lights.

Another nice basic thing is being able to set car ID using the Scorpius controller instead of using the Carrera CU.

NITROUS DONGLE
Converts Scorpius throttle protocols into Carrera protocols. Simply plug in and race. Up to 6 Scorpius controllers can be used at once.

It allows the lane change command to the CU in a native fashion so no rubber bands or work arounds are required. This will mean 100% truly compatible lane changing without the debate.
