BRM and Revoslot Chassis design

Wonder if there are more folk here thinking about the design of the Revoslot and BRM chassis.

I have a few of the new (big) BRM chassis GT90 and Legend (Porsche and Ferrari) cars.

I wonder the purpose of the chassis plates and the movement. I have read different ideas - the body screws tight and let the float come from the chassis, loosen the body screws and put tape on the chassis to quieten it down and reduce movement

So what type of track were these cars designed for - plastic track which was bumpy and if so does that mean that taping the chassis would be better for wood tracks?

Wonder what people's thoughts are?
