MSCC 2024 Race results & reports etc.
#31

Race results - 13th June 2024 - F1 followed by Group 5

No marshals but three racers meant a lot of stopping and starting but inbetween there were some quick laps and some too close for comfort racing.
.
F1
One Standard Class NSR F1 and a pair of Open Class MB/Allslot F1's with Brian racing his MB/Allslot from a few years ago.
.
We made it look like hard work, lap counts were well down with deslots seemingly every lap!

.
Group 5
.
Two Standard Class Sideways Group 5's and one Modified Class Sideways Capri with SlotIt SW pod.
.
We made this class look a bit easier...a bit!

.
Lots of super close racing though.

Race results - 20th June 2024 - NSR Mosler 'Club Challenge' #5 followed by Saloons
.
A good turnout tonight, which would mean some great racing.
.
NSR Mosler 'Club Challenge' #5
.
Four championship contenders and three 'non championship' contenders.
The four championship drivers raced each other whilst the three 'non championship' drivers stayed out of the way with their own racing.
.
Mike B was having problems with his Mosler during his first race, this gave Chris a full lap advantage...Mike found a cracked motor mount and set-to with superglue...to be continued
Gav & Ed had already run two heats by this time and were having their own battle.  Gav uses the controller settings from the last person who used it, this happened to be Kev and his settings seemed to suit Gav's driving perfectly because his car was flying!
.
The 'non championship' drivers had also run two heats by this time with Kev two laps clear and running much better than the last round of the series having found nothing obvious causing the handling problems.
Andy & Brian less than a lap apart at this time but Brian wasn't 100% confident with his car.
.
Mike's bodge solved his car problems and his Mosler was flying and by the end of the second race had taken over half a lap off Chris's lead.
.
Brian had a stinker in his last race in the red lane losing five laps to  Andy & Kev with Kev finishing comfortably ahead of Andy for the overall 'non championship' result.
.
Would Mike catch Chris, would Gav catch Ed...
Chris had a deslot early in the race...oh how costly was that!...as the cars crossed the line on their final lap Mike nicked the win by 0.09 of a lap which is about half a second.
...and Ed managed to keep Gav away by just under a lap.
.
As far as the series points are concerned, they're just as close as tonights racing.  At the half way point, there's no clear and obvious favourite in both championships.
  •     Championship Standings - Mike has come back really strongly in the last two rounds closing within one point of Chris.  With Ed missing two rounds Gav is currently third overall.
  •     'Non Championship' Standings - Kev has pulled back level with Andy and Brian is a couple of points further back.

.
Saloon
.
One 'Back 2 Basics', one Standard Class, one Modified  Class and a trio of Spirit Peugeot 406's and a Mustang in Open Class.
.
With the track back at 13.8v a couple of these were lapping even faster than the Moslers.
.
It's great to see Ed supporting the 'B2B' class proving that you don't need a racing special to enjoy good racing.  A good run in Yellow lane probably gave Ed the Standard Class win.
.
Gav was having trouble adjusting his controller "I'm adjusting all the right settings...but not necessarily in the right order"...'you need less brakes Gav'...not that one...not that one either...try that one'.  It's fair to say his Opel doesn't look happy at the moment.
.
Chris racing his trusty Honda Civic, only beaten in the Yellow lane by the trio of Open Class Peugeots. A really good run in Yellow lane for the trusty Honda.
.
Mike B's Mustang went best in Red lane finishing not far off Kev's time.  The race in Yellow lane was the main reason the Mustang lost ground to Brian's Peugeot.
.
Brian's blue Peugeot 406 has seen a resurgence of late, it goes really well...but not quite up to catching Kev & Andy who were flying round together for many laps...as they were with the Moslers earlier.
.
With one final race, Andy was leading overall by 0.2 of a lap, with both drivers in their favoured lanes, a few incidents during the race meant Kev's orange Peugeot took top spot in the Open Class.

Race report - 4th July 2024 - Sports followed by Grand Prix & prewing F1
.
A good mix of classes tonight from the quickest to the slowest.
.
Sports
.
In Standard Class Brian raced the only NSR Mosler against Kev's SlotIt Group C Jag, the closest race of the night was the last one with the Jag crossing the line a few feet ahead of the Mosler.
.
Ed's Modified Class Jag XJR9 looks easy to drive but had three lonely races a few laps behind...but won it's class!
.
Chris & Gav raced for Open Class honours, Chris's popular Dome Judd and Gav's quick Ferrari F40.  They did race each other in Heat #4, the Dome Judd finishing two laps ahead.
.
Kev's Jag, Ed's Jag and Chris's Dome Judd all finished as class winners tonight.

.
Grand Prix & prewing F1.
.
With Andy away in France, no prewing entries.
.
Ed racing the only Standard Class car, the Cartix Lancia Ferrari may be hefty but stays in the slot.
.
In Modified Class we saw again saw Brian & Kev racing for class honours, Brian's Vanwall and Kev's Mercedes W196.
Racing each other in Heat #6 even with only one deslot all race, the Vanwall couldn't catch the Merc.
.
Two cars in Open Class, Chris with his Maserati 250F and Gav with his detuned brass chassied Lancia Ferrari D50.
These two did meet in the last race of the night joined by Ed's Lancia D50...with which he won the heat but Chris's Maserati  was only one second behind but a couple of laps ahead of Gav's Lancia Ferrari.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next week we will see a lot of these GP cars again as it's the annual 'Mike Dove Memorial Classic Grand Prix' (pre-1961) Team Race.  This is now only for Classic GP cars, no pre-wings.
