Just sitting down to tea when I heard the unmistakable sound of a Merlin V12...a quick butchers out of the window and there's a Spitfire heading off in an Easterly direction after a 10 minute display over Douglas Bay

What a fantabulous way to cheer you up of an evening

Quite something, Kevan.

I can only talk of the Spitfire and Mustang flying apart, but close enough to each other, over my home some 12 months ago.
No video proof though.

There's a restored Lancaster bomber about an hour's drive outside of Toronto. Once in a while they fly it over the city, and you can hear the 4-Merlins coming in the distance. Crazy sound! Unlike anything else!

I live near to Beachy Head on the South Coast of the UK, and we are under the route of Spitfire pleasure flights to the landmark white cliffs. I watched two today, and on a sunny weekends, you hear them coming over every hour or so.

We also just had our annual 4-day Eastbourne air show at the sea front, and I watched the Battle of Britain flight with a Lancaster as it flew over our house on the Saturday. It is an awesome thing to see and hear.

Living near RAF Marham we are often on the flight paths of both the Battle of Britain flight and the Red Arrows as they visit various parts of the kingdom. The Merlin is certainly top of the tree as regards engine sounds but I would add a close earth bound contender - the mighty Cosworth 3 litre V8 DFV!
