I picked up a really cheap FLY viper today, seems very slow, is there another quicker motor that will fit that comes with a long driveshaft for the front motor ? Only ones I can find so far are same as is in, Mabuchi I think . Or can the shaft be mated up to another one of higher rpm ?

I don't have a Viper but a quick google says it's a FK130 motor (short can), you'll have to keep the spring and shaft extension but motors are available

That’s great, I already have a scale auto motor on order for another project so might try that, I wasn’t sure how the shaft was extended and if it was transferable, ?

It's just a fairly tight fitting spring, when you lever it off make sure you keep it straight, if you kink the spring the axle will wobble at high revs.

Pendle recommended a scale auto tech 1 20k motor, ordered and waiting for it, I got it for the fly chevron but might try it in viper first, then get another one of some sort, any suggestions for a good 20/21 motor ?

Revoslot are great 21k motors
...of course the best mod for one of those is a decent chassis and move the motor to the back end. If it was mine I'd be fitting a SW pod and lightweight interior, but that's maybe some way down the road for you.
