Slotting Car Proxy Club

Something a little different, I entered this US proxy for 1950's Sports Cars

And this was my entry car  Sun

oh so very close to my first overseas proxy win  Cool

But did make me think about a kind of UK version 50's decade proxy, for sports, Saloon & GP cars ??

This was based on the original IPS proxy, last run just as COVID hit us and run by Alexis

I'm fairly sure a similar proxy idea was suggested a year ago and the three of us from the Manx club will definitely be interested.

No this one was run just as a proxy for the US, the cars did not go outside unlike the IPS. And the motors were just slimline.

But my idea would be to have the 3 Event type structure as we are with the Goodwood Revival Proxy, representing the 3 types of cars.

I don't think we would get many entrants for it, but if we could get say 10 entrants making 3 cars for the proxy (Sports, Saloon & GP) we could get around 30 car entry.

Well done by the way, I was following that proxy early on but lost touch.

Yes although I started off well and the winner was near to last in the early rounds, it was fairly clear that the GSnopoint had much better run of Rounds towards the end.
So I lost out on the last Round by just one point.
The gearing I used this year was 9/26 gearing with the Predator 18k rpm motor, last year I had the same car, chassis & set up with 9/24 and came towards the bottom half of the field. I had also lowered the body a little onto the chassis and removed some of the cockpit interior weight. But the wheels & tyres were the same as before.

Going back to the proxy idea Graham, would you be looking at slower motors?

It is probably too early in my thinking to make decisions regarding the rules if such a proxy were to be run, but I was impressed with the 50x50 type proxy idea for these early cars with the slimline 18k motors, the final running was very close.
It’s also interesting that the new MR Slotman early 60’s cars will also be based on this type of motor, so there could be some inclusion of that period within a proxy to make it more appealing.
