The famous slot-car layout builders Slot Mods Raceway have created a wonderful replica of the FIAT Lingotto factory. The roof top test track forms the slot-track and the factory building has vignettes of FIAT Nuova 500 production.
The factory was built from 1916 and operated until from 1922 until the 80s. The concept was that raw materials entered on the ground floor and fully assembled vehicles emerged at the top for a quick test run around the track.
Lingotto became a screen star in the famouse Michael Caine movie "The Italian Job". Some say that Minis were the actual stars as the gang escaped from Turin with FIAT's gold.
