Scorpius Multi Purpose Decoder
#71

NO!!!! A mistake. When adding the JSTs the board had to increase in width to accept the JST socket concept which in turn pushed the braid wires of centre.
So a plug swap was required.
Issue. The MPD has a 3mm IR LED soldered to the bottom side so it fits straight into a Carrera chassis quickly using Blu Tack. This must be 12.5mm off centreline of chassis to ensure it passes directly over a Carrera track sensor. The other issue is there is no room to play to be choosy with JST socket placement. Luckily the centreline of the decoder is just 0.7mm off centre with the centreline of the chassis, which is negligible.
So at the end of the day we have even tension on the braid wires.

Here’s what we’ve been using lately for development. ESP 32 with breadboard layer. Works well with Micropython code.
We were able to code and get the Nitrous dongle to proof of concept level in just a day. Great little development tool.
