Brighton to John O'Groats Road Race -Proxy Event 2021 REPORT

Wavegreen Hello Good morning to the weekly look at what's been happening so far.

News Feed Review

Class A - At last it is Team Cube's turn at the top, having been in the top 4 from the start. But the top four cars appear to change on a regular basis, so currently we have Team Demon, MAD Racing, Kessel run all very close. A late run after a poor start for the Mclarens's of Roadrunners and miketheslot69 who are now looking to challenge Mountain View Racing and Bangers racing for 5th & 6th placings.

Class B- Although it looks like Team Demon's show with their Mercedes AMG, in the last Stage the Yellow Devils Calibre were just able to beat them around the Hairpin bends of Belvoir pass, and there could be more of those bends to come at Mountain Garage for stage 8. But there is close competition between Mountain View Racing, Kerssel run, Minnis Racing and now Green Star racing for the runners up positions.

Class C - Very close exchange for 1st position between the higher spec Ford GT40's of Team Demon and Yellow Devils, slightly more removed but not out of the running yet is the Porsche 911 Carrera of Bangers Racing and the SRC's Porsche 914/6 of Brumos RSR and  Woodland Cornwall.  And interestingly the older 50's cars are giving the rest of the 60's cars further down the placings a good run (especially around the bendy track Stages). Currently even beating some of the lower spec Ford GT40's

As a result of all of this the Team points appear to favour Team Demon, but there is close competition between Yellow Devils, MAD Racing, Woodland Cornwall and Kessel run and now Roadrunners for the runners up positions. And on a general point is is great to see that all but 4 of the 28 entrants have earned some points along the road so far.

Next we have the Stages at Mountain View Garage at Wrexham, hopefully Paul will be giving us an insight as to what to expect with these Stages 7 & 8 very soon  Sun

Hi all Proxy Racers
https://youtu.be/j6SoN4hJX6k
Just to give you a heads up on the weekend racing I have put together a quick video of the track layout for the speedway part, I hope to get the road circuit Worlds End out latter today.

All the cars have arrived at Mountain View Garage and will be processed today ( sorted for the event)
With a 10am start on Saturday morning with the results displayed as quick as possible. I cannot live stream as I am Apple iPhone bound but I am hoping to do some videos to put on You tube.

The track shown on you tube is the Steelway which is approx 60ft and is Policar which is hard plastic and deep guide depth 9mm so no risk of a sticking guide. There are two tight corners R1s and two sweeping R3s and a very fast R4 which in some slot cars can be taken flat for the very brave with sticky soft tyres.
This track will be Sunday Morning running as it’s the permenant track of the garage( loft ?)  Checkeredflag
More to come later about the other track.?

Ok finally the Worlds End Pass track is on you tube see link above.

This is a challenging track which requires a lot of concentration to get a clean fast stage time.
I am just getting use to this editing lark hopefully they are getting better as I go along.

Two loops and a hill climb with a skid bend too.

It’s all looking exciting for the off.

Hi proxy racers
Today is free practice for the cars on the world ends pass , if you click the link above it will show all the Class C cars in practice on the hill. Some fly up it others need a gentle spectator push to assist these old cars???
I will endeavour to show all the classes plus fix the wobbly wheel today.

The Worlds end pass in reality runs from Minera (part of outer Wrexham ) single narrow track with lots of sheep, pot holes and large drops. It crosses the Esclusham Mountain and the Rubin Moors leading eventually to Llangollen in Denbighshire. Very remote and hostile weather in winter and stunning scenery  on a clear day . Well worth the effort to drive through but be prepared to reverse a little.

I have not put any sheep in or pot holes as the bends and the incline are challenging enough.
I am enjoying getting familiar with the cars so I can get the best performance out of every car. Thank you all for entering and fingers crossed for all competing ? cars .. Checkeredflag will keep you updated on the other classes.  Wavegreen

Nice video.  Good to see a direct comparison of how some of the cars run up the hill.  From the looks of things you ran my class B car (yellow De Tomaso) rather than my class C though (Blue Tr4 - or what's left of it at least Bigsmile !)
