Tyco: 12“- & 6“-Curves in EU
#1

Hi,

I want to build a 4-lane raceway with my son, who just got into H0-racing with me. After buying several sets and a few single track parts over the past two months I’m still looking for:

12 6“-curves for Tyco (not original Tyco) and
16 12“ original Tyco curves.

I’d prefer someone from the EU due to tax and customs regulations. Thanks a lot in advance!

Should be plenty of 12" curves around - there are in the UK. The 6" (and 15") curves are really hard to find - these were made in the US during the 1990s. You will probably need to search in the US / Canada.

I have two 6" curves in my old 4-lane Tyco oval, which I've just dismantled. You are very welcome to them - although they are painted. I'll see how many 12" curves I have. It will be nice if they go to a good home and be used. Only postage costs required. I'll post some pics later.

Thanks a lot, woodcote ! That sounds very promising. I’ve already gotten hold of a bunch of used 15“-curves, but 12” and 6” are both pretty rare to find in Germany right now.

If the tracks don’t mind a little swearing now and then (no obscenities of course, I have kids!) they’ll definitely go to a good home!  Rofl  I’ll try to post my plans for the racetrack later today, then you’ll see what we’re up to.

Shall we continue with PMs?

Dominik - here are the pics...

That is...
  • 2 x 6" 1/8 curve (45 degree), both painted.
  • 17 x 12" 1/8 curve (45 degree), 11 unpainted, 6 painted
  • 11 x 9" 1/8 curve (45 degree), 7 unpainted, 4 painted

All tabs are intact and all the track is in good condition - no rust.

That looks fantastic! I would love to give all of them a new home. Which color did you use to paint the tracks? Thought about painting the rest of my raceway as well, maybe even a little modeling of scenery in the future. But that’s highly hypothetical right now. Raceway first, beauty second. ;)

I used a grey primer. It will take some work to remove - or you can leave it on and paint over it.

There are also these 4-lane reed-switch sensors in two Tyco 15" straights (painted with grey primer)...

They work with almost all cars (including old T-Jets)... apart from some Micro Scalextric ones. The cable is wired to a 25-pin D-sub connector for use with Trackmate - although it will plug directly into a parallel printer port and work with software such as LapTimer 2000.
