HO Drag Proxy 12-13 January 2021 RACE REPORT

Round Two

The three second round races promised to be close - and they didn't disappoint...

Rebecca vs Dave was the Super Stock final in November's race. The result was the same - Rebecca beat Dave. Rebecca's time was 0.477 and Dave clocked 0.497 - the winning margin 0.024 seconds. Rebecca had booked herself a place in the final.

Jeremy was away well in the second race, but Alan finished very strongly. Everyone looked to the screen to make sure - and yes, Alan had it by 0.023 seconds. Alan's ET was 0.482 and Jeremy's 0.512.

The last second round race was sensational! Iain was away first and held a comfortable lead at halfway... but Hank's Focus was finishing like a rocket. I thought Hank had it - and his ET was quicker at 0.508 to Iain's 0.512 - but Iain's silver Nissan was through the line 0.004 ahead. A holeshot win for Iain!

That gave us a semi-final between Alan and Iain to meet Rebecca in the final...

It was a quick one! Iain was away first, but Alan was closing as they approached the line... The Hot Mustard Jag grabbed the win by 0.019 seconds - Alan clocking a very rapid 0.470 and Iain 0.490.

Alan would meet Rebecca in the final...

Looking forward to the Street Stock elimination this evening. Fitted yet another second hand motor/chassis from eBay to my Bugatti and at last, I might have found a good one!

I particularly like the fact it went faster on each qualifying run...

Auto World Top Fuel Match Racing Round Two

In the battle of the youngsters, Noah was a whole tenth of a second quicker - but Dylan improved too. Dylan's Alanabi dragster won by 0.172 seconds to close out the match 2-0. Their ETs were 0.987 and 1.152.

Alan wanted to square the match after Clive's win yesterday. The white Matco Tools machine got a great start again, but the orange and gold Al's Garage dragster finished strongly, overtaking through the line... Who crossed first? The gap was 0.009 seconds and Clive had the win to take the match 2-0. The ETs were an incredibly close 0.715 to 0.717.

Rebecca also needed a win to take her match with Andy into a deciding run. However, Andy's FRAM dragster was too strong - winning by 0.116 seconds to wrap up the match. The ETs 0.718 to 0.836.

The course officials offered Clive and Andy a winner-takes-all run-off, but they declined - deciding to keep their powder dry for the big Top Fuel competition at the season finale in March. It should be an exciting one!

NHRA Funny Car / Pro Stock 4-Gear Eliminators - Round One

Although Alan's Pro Stock found a little extra pace, top qualifier Iain was too strong - winning by 0.225 seconds. The ETs were 0.802 and 1.009.

The two Mopar Pro Stockers lined up side-by-side... and that how they stayed down the strip. Clive's white car just faded at the end to give Andy the win by 0.034 seconds. Andy clocked 0.913 and Clive 0.944.

Jerome has full driving responsibilities in the DHL Funny Car this time and saw off David's challenge in race three by 0.141 seconds. The winning ET 0.826 and David's 0.962.

Finally for Round One, Rebecca's Funny Car had too much for Doug - despite a quick time for the Nitro Fish Pro Stock. Rebecca won by 0.087 seconds, her ET 0.849 to Doug's 0.936.

Round Two - Semi Finals

With three Funny Cars making the semis, Andy's JEGS car was the only Pro Stocker. A close race in the early stages, Iain pulled out a 0.119 second gap by the finish. Their times were 0.794 and 0.911. The top qualifier was through to the final.

Jerome and Rebecca gave us a thrilling semi final. Super-close all the way down the strip, the yellow DHL Funny Car just edged it by 0.023 seconds. Jerome clocked 0.807 to Rebecca's 0.828. Jerome would face Iain in the final...
