We have a Targa Florio event/race that that focuses around the years 1969 to 1971. Accurate scratch built liveries are a must. If a car was entered, it can be created and raced even if the real one didn't show up. But you need to bring details like proof of colour, etc...

Racingsportscars.com says a driver named Anatoly Arutunoff tried to enter a Corvette in 1971. But got disqualified before the race. I searched Google Images for days only to come up empty handed. The only thing I found was his phone number through the yellow pages. I can't enter this Corvette until I get details and facts.

So I found the courage to make the phone call, and hope he doesn't hang up in my ear. What a super nice guy! He and I talked for about 45-minutes about all sorts of stuff. The most important... the details of his 1971 Corvette. White with a black hood.

Now I can enter a Corvette in the Targa Florio.

Mr Arutunoff's car got disqualified for something to do with the roll-bar. He found out after the race that his Corvette could have qualified if an Italian safety tech had pre-approved it. Tragedy!

It is surprising the difference between people giving information.

I have asked several companies for info on old cars and have been met with a mixed response. Cummins informed me that anything was copyright and they couldn't give me any details!! Just how was this going to affect them? Do they really think they could earn any dosh from an individual making one model of a sixty year old car?

Aston Martin on the other hand went out of their way to be helpful and had their archive department dig for the info I needed regarding paint colours from the fifties.

Anyway, nice project.

Thank you very kindly for posting more material on the car. The car looks great.

My slot car colour was based on a phone call with Mr. Arutunoff.  Mr Toly said his white 1971 ZR1 race car had a black hood at the time it was entered. Please call him yourself and ask. He's a super nice guy to talk with.

I would imagine the car was painted several times since 1971.

In the end, I got a Corvette slot car in a mini Targa Florio. Two actually. Here's Toly's 1970 small block Vette the white hood. I asked for info on both cars.
