News Presto Park Round 2 Race 2 GT3
#1

Good Morning All

Another excellent nights racing here at Presto park with some exceptional heats and finals and some very close racing was had by all.

With just 12 drivers attending due to illness and commitments elsewhere ( what could be more important than an evenings slot car racing)

Some drivers are still finding it difficult to get the right settings for the change of direction and also the Start lights being moved from the entrance of the pit lane to the exit, This made a difference and less accidents at turn 1.

The heats started and it was soon very clear that the evening was going to be hotly contested and some excellent lap times would be recorded

With 12 heats completed and very little incidents, but some very close racing and only a couple of minor incidents We arrived at the break.

The finals were sorted and everyone enjoyed the social side for a short while and also allowed for some testing.

Tea break over and now down to the nitty gritty.

The lap counter had been reset to 25 laps and we were ready for the finals to take place.

Final D

Just 3 racers for this one. The grid was Iain M., Ray and Keith

The lights went out and it was very soon that Keith was falling behind and Iain M and Ray were going to be very quick.

A few minor skirmish's took place and some close racing between Ray and Iain.

After the 25 laps the result was: -

1. Ray
2. Iain M
3. Keith

Final C

Ray took his promotion and lined up on the start line with Ken, Steve, and Lyle whom are usually all good for the A final, but tonight struggled to make an impression on the top drivers.

It was soon obvious that Ken was struggling and retired leaving the remaining 3 to fight it out, but Ray struggled to keep pace with Lyle and Steve.

After the 25 laps of excellent racing was: -

1. Steve
2. Lyle
3. Ray
4. Ken

Final B

Again this could have been an A final start line, so we had Tone, Alf, James H, and Steve after his C final win.

The lights went out and all raced away very quickly and for a few laps we had some very close racing with all lap times in the mid 6 seconds

After half distance it became two separate races with Steve and James H fighting for the win and Alf and Tone for the lower places.

With the laps passing the result was: -

1. James H
2. Steve
3. Tone
4. Alf

Now for the big final

Final A

On the start line for this one we have Mike, James H, Andy and Richard T.

Once again this final produced some great racing and for many laps the cars were very close, till a few minor incidents spread the field.

Andy and Mike took the fight to a new level by swapping the lead lap after lap and with James and Richard T chasing hard were not able to make any inroads on the front two.

With three of the four drivers now in the low 6 seconds who was it that was going to hold there nerve longest. Andy has been on top form since the start of the season and Mike has found his form since returning from his holiday in the Artic circle.

So after the 25 exciting laps the result was as follows: -

1. Mike
2. Andy
3. James H
4. Richard T

So we came to the end of another great nights racing and the championship points were allocated as Follows: -

Mike                25

Andy               23 + 1pt for fastest lap 6.379 seconds

James H          21

Richard T       20

Steve              19

Tone               18

Alf                 17

Lyle               16

Ray               15

Ken              14

Iain M          13

Keith            12
