Detail and detailing -

I think this could be a great and ongoing thread. Lets show all our detailing - on any aspect of slotcars and if you have a technique, lets show that as well....
Looking forward to this,
This first one is an easy one really. That is thanks to George Turner producing an unbelieveable kit. SO pick out painting does the trick:

Then another masterful kit - the Ferrari 612 Can Am by maxi models. Not a kit to race but awesome to build and potter around the track with....
I added the plug wires by using 25G wire I have and then painting it flat red.

Back in 2002 I bought some cars from Derek Cooper - upcycled Airfix F1's - and have wanted to do some myself ever since.
In this car, I used the rear suspension from the scaley cooper to increase the rear detail, as well as the exhaust.

Not in the same league as the above, but I have dabbled with a bit of "super-detailing" at my own level. The Scalextric Lancia Rally models of the 1980s had very basic decoration and a few dabs of paint around the engine make a big difference. I was so pleased with the outcome that I tried to replicate a photograph from the 1983 Tour De Corse. This meant opening the engine covers and a bit more detail.

Best laid plans of mice and men... The cars in the 1:1 photo have the original bodywork whereas Scalextric did the evolution version which has no rear valance. Its the thought that counts.
LOL - in case you are not sure, the 1:1 photo is the one at the bottom!

One of the things I really want to do - but it sitys in never never land at the moment - is update the Scaley formula Juniors and some of the Scaley F1's from the 70's.
Only ones I have done are the French Scaley Alfa 33 and matra 670

I used the weathering powders on the engines after painting. I think it makes these cars SO much better.

Painting is definitely not one of my talents but here is my feeble attempt at a couple of 70s F1 Scalextric cars from way back when:

Hello Anthony, The Alfa and Matra look really good - I am a Matra fan, so I will say "especially the Matra!".

Hello Brian, those old Scalextric cars really brush up well !
Some figures you will recognise, the others are SCX Rally Crew. Available in blue, Green and Red, but v rare these days.
I once asked if anyone had re-popped these but never got a response or any interest.

Hi Leo ,do you think that would have to be a two part mold for the figures .I once enquired from a dentist friend of mine about scanning and printing some figures which he was glad to do but the material he uses was very expensive and they would work out about 8 pounds each .It was worked out by weight , I think the process solidified a powder so there were no print lines .He could also reverse the image .
