Hello from the land of the rising sun. - dazee - 17th-Jun-19

Calling in to say hello.  Am a Brit but living in Japan for a while now.  Slot car scene not too big out here so always looking for sources of information and ideas.  Have a Carrera hybrid track setup in the garage and also been working on a portable time attack track for a while - currently just started the version 3 build.
Still work in progress on the hybrid for the scenery, but all electronics working great.

From the portable track just before version 3 got underway.

Very nice track.

Hi dazee,

Both tracks look great.
I would like to see more photos, please.

Welcome dazee. Nice tracks there.

Thank you.  Took some time and a lot of mistakes along the way, and perhaps one day I will finish it.

Here is the only photo I seem to have of the entire track.  Racing my father on one of his visits here.

Haunted house still needs work and repairs from some drifting action.

I have started detailing the rear wall, but still to add lighting and figures to the spooky garage under the start/finish straight.

I have a removable track piece that is swapped out for a single crossover.  This gives me a double length lap in analogue mode to keep both sides evenly  used.  Or as is titled in my race management software "sad racer"  Bigsmile

Version 1 of the time attack track.  Basic, flat and just followed the layout of actual local drift circuit.

Simple Arduino circuit just gives a count of how many laps done, last lap time and best lap time.  Single yellow button resets the counter.  There is a push button hidden on the under side to reverse the track direction.  Table frame is made to hold a standard 3 x 6 sheet of mdf so I can make new layouts and easily swap out.  Timing sensor and power just clip on.

Version 2 before the scenery got detailed on it.  The latest version will follow pretty much the same line as this except to eliminate the crossovers and use copper braid instead of tape.  Should make it flow better and be more durable.  Future plan is to replace the Arduino with a raspberry pi to have more flexibility on events.

Will put an update in the tracks section once I have the elevations fixed on the new version and have the braid laid down to test run it before progressing too far.

Really like your track - lot of straights with some squiggly bits - and some added detail Thumbup Thumbup

Nice track - which part of Japan are you in?

Hello Dazee,
Welcome to the Forum. I always think that Japanese people are car-mad so surprised to hear that there is little slot-racing activity.

I believe it is mostly a matter of real estate.  Not so many have the luxury of space to set up a track.  We do have Banpro/Plafit here and I have been around their shop with tracks and manufacturing.  But is the other side of Tokyo from me so I don't get over there often.

I am in Chiba to the East of Tokyo.  Little country village on the side of a golf course.

Looks like one of your admins here may be a kindred spirit.  So for his/her benefit, my house sign.  Bigsmile
