Newbie to 1/32, started four months ago - Lawnmower Man - 13th-Aug-26
Hi slot racing friends, my name is Erik and I've been a life-long slot-racing amateur in 1/64 scale with the Faller AMS system, i.e. available in stores all the way up to 1983. Just in a home setting and sometimes not even racing as the Faller system has a wide selection of slow moving trucks, traffic lights, crossings and junctions.
A few months ago we bought some Carrera GO!!! on a fleamarket for the grandchildren and that rekindled my racing spirit.
Soon after I 'happened' upon two Fly 1/32 slot cars I really liked: a white Lola T70 MK3b and a yellow Ferrari 512S. From there I bought some accompanying track (Carrera 124) which came with a couple of cars.
Most of you will know the joy of used slotcars - they need tires and repairs! The Carrera cars are generally OK after cleaning and putting on fresh tires and braids, but the Fly cars turn out to be very lady-like: they are oh so beautiful and I could never part with them, but they do have a temperament and need a lot of attention.
My first steps into 1/32 are therefore more fixing than racing - but that's OK as I like tinkering with mechanical toys.

It was Fly cars that tempted me back into the hobby - the Lola and 512S being particularly memorable. Happy days!

Welcome to the forum.
If you like tinkering. Then slot cars are for you. Most slot cars benefit from tinkering before running properly. Even new cars straight from the box.
Wait until you try an NSR, or Thunderslot car. They are very fast!
