Manx Slot Car Club - Slot Rally Results 2025 - Kevan - 10th-Feb-25

A nice turnout for the first Slot Rally of 2025.

[attachment=39521]
.
Cars spread right across the classes: .
Four cars each and three Rally stages meant a full evening of non-stop action...once we got properly started as we seemed to take a while to get organised.

There's a lot more video this time, still getting to grips with the GoPro settings but it gives you the chance to see the cars from angles impossible to see by eye.

Next week should be fast and furious as it's Sports followed by F1

RE: Manx Slot Car Club - Slot Rally Results 2025 - Kevan - 14th-Mar-25

Slot Rally - 13th March 2025
It’s always good to see basic and standard cars on the road, plus as predicted we had Proxy and brand new cars entered…
.
As turnout was down a little, we ran five cars each, first driver up chose which stage to start.  Once we finished Stage 1, the first driver goes to the bottom of the timing sheets to start last on Stage 2.  The first driver to start Stage 2 then goes last on Stage 3.
.
Whilst we were using Little Druidale, I mentioned about changing the track around one weekend for a change as we’ve used it in this configuration for over a year, although Andy said he liked the current layout it may still happen…
.
Brian’s now got a good selection of cars for Rally nights, there was a time he only had four and did struggle a bit with a couple…not now though…that’s not to say everything is now plain sailing as we saw with the Renault Megane making unpleasant graunching noises along the lines of the crown gear that’s moved away from the pinion…’how is the crown gear located Bri?...spacer on the axle?’...’yeah, spacer’...the amount of sideways movement found at the end of the run says otherwise.
.
Brian’s best car tonight was his Ninco Subaru Imprezza (Back2Basics Class), that’s not a surprise as it’s been a great car since he bought it off Dave.
.
Chris brought along a brand new out-of-the-box Avant Toyota Yaris WRC and it looks fantastic and for a car with zero prep whatsoever it shows lots of potential…once the loose screws and other issues that cropped up during the Rally are sorted…it’s also much bigger than you think it’ll be.
.
Chris’s best car tonight was also a Back2Basics car, Ninco Porsche 911 that’s been around the block many times over the years, there was a time this was in everyone’s pit box on Rally night and it’s good to see it’s one of Chris’s favourites.
.
Kev’s been working on a Ninco Jag XK120 for a Targa Florio Proxy in Autumn, a few changes since it was first ‘released’ shows it’s finally getting there on the big track and tonight was the opportunity to test it on the twisty Rally stages…and it goes really well, setting the second fastest single time of all cars tonight.
.
Kev’s best car tonight was…yet another Back2Basics car, a Fly BMW M1 that he didn’t even test before the first stage started, setting the single fastest time of all cars tonight.  Fly Classics with sidewinder chassis seem to be superb basic cars, noisy but great runners.
.
Back2Basics cars out-performing three drivers ‘faster’ cars, what’s that’s all about?..just goes to show you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a ‘pro’ quality car.
.
Andy loves making his own brass chassis, they all go well and have been developed over many years.
A Ferrari 250 GTO was new to the Rally stages and was the quickest Small Classic on two of the three stages.
.
Andy’s best car was his Ferrari F40 set fastest times on Little Druidale and Carpark Chaos.

.

After the event, Andy let us drive a Corvette L88 built for the same proxy as Kev’s XK120, we drove it on the main 3 lane track and on the Rally stages and it’s a really good runner.

RE: Manx Slot Car Club - Slot Rally Results 2025 - Kevan - 24th-May-25

Slot Rally - 22nd May 2025

[attachment=41045]

Seven ‘Back 2 Basics’ Class
Six Standard Class
Five ProStock Class
Six Open Class
Eight different manufacturers bodyshells
Nine different manufacturers of chassis including 3D and brass

Back2Basics was the most popular tonight which is always good to see, plus a good selection of upgraded B2B cars, we also had Proxy and first time raced cars entered…
.
Turnout was good tonight, too good really as we should have split into two groups of three as we didn’t finish until after 10pm.
.
We had a new visitor a few weeks ago, Kyle, tonight he returned and borrowed a couple of the Club Rally cars plus shared two of Ed’s cars and did really well.
As can be expected sharing cars added a little bit of extra competition, it’s fair to say the six cars between them went really well.
.
Gav said he’d never driven on Carpark Chaos before so that was a new experience for him too.
Gav’s Fly Fiat Punto had a DNF on the last stage and his Porsche 997 is a little over-powered, making it unpredictable…but the pair of Ferraris went well, in particular his Avant 308 GTB whilst his Ninco 360 went better with each run as the tyres got track time.
.
Brian’s now got a set of well prepared cars that perform well every time and he’s enjoying Slot Rally more than ever, there’s not much between his Scooby, Metro 6R4 and Renault Megane, a trio of great runners.
.
Kev’s been working on a second Ninco Jag XK120 for a Targa Florio Proxy in Autumn, a ‘Modified Standard’ class for cars without an adjustable motor mount and it went well.
He’s also been working on a Mini, the first brass chassis he’s made for a couple of years or so and it went really well first time out. The TR7 V8 resurrected for SRGB 2024 is now a regular in his pit garage.
.
Mike came armed with a pair of SCX Skoda Fabias…which was just as well as the first one was playing-up in corners and the hill on Little Druidale, most probably the ‘chicken legs’ behind the guide…the second one was a great runner but that first car spoiled what would have been a good overall time.
A Ninco Citroen C4 with clear chassis went well as did his Ninco Citroen C4 and NSR Porsche 997 GT3.

Slot Rally - 26th June 2025

[attachment=41461]
As there were six of us tonight we split into two groups of three and allowed up to five cars each (Brian, Andy & Kev opted for five cars).
.
The most popular car tonight was the Ninco Jaguar XK120 in various guises with three of them.
A pair of Mini’s, two Metro 6R4’s and a couple of Porsche 997 GT3’s.
.
I think we all just Rally the cars we enjoy driving and if there’s competition in a class then there’s going to be a class winner: .

All in all it was good to have a good turnout and two groups which meant we finished at a sensible time.

Slot Rally - 31st July 2025

[attachment=41982]

Four of us tonight with five cars each.
.
This was a long night but we weren’t hampered by problems so didn’t finish too late.
.
Only two cars the same tonight, Chris & Kev’s Ninco Lancia 037’s although Ed & Brian had Metro 6R4’s they were different makes & classes.
.
Plenty of favourites plus proxy cars…and I think there was only one new car on the Rally stages tonight, Kev’s Ninco BMW M3…which goes pretty good!
.
It was good to see Chris with his Opel Manta, Ed with his Jag XK120 and Brian’s Metro 6R4.
.
Other notable runners were Ed’s Porsche 935, Brian’s Peugeot 206, Chris’s Toyota Supra and Kev’s Mini Cooper.
