Converting controllers to digital. - Zippideedooda - 17th-Oct-24

Has anyone tried to remove the guts of a Scalextric Arc Pro controller and install it into a higher end controller, like a Professor Motor?
I am longing for a better controller that is not as costly as a Slot.It SCP3.

what are you trying to achieve?
The innards of the controller are all electronic aka digital meaning putting them in a different body won't change how the car drives....

I thought my post was clear. But I would like a digital controller, similar in shape to an SPC3, because I don't like the Arc Pros shape. I don't need all the extra buttons or knobs, just the 2 that are needed, in a comfortable handle and are cable free so I can move around the track.

I think it would be tricky to fit them in a commercially available holder. Your best bet would probably be 3D  printing. I have always found John May to be very helpful with bespoke stuff.

These are the innards of an ARC controller (ARC and Pro are identical electronically)...

If you have a spare Prof Motor / Truspeed / SCP handle, it would be an interesting, but challenging project to transfer the ARC electronics and use the superior trigger and spring tension that is more to your liking. However, I think Brian's suggestion of a 3D printed handle is well worth considering.

Personally, I don't mind the ARC shape, but all modern Scalextric controllers are improved by a softer spring.

Without buying lots of different springs to test, is there a part number (perhaps from RS?) for springs which are known to give a better trigger ‘feel’ for ARC throttles please? i.e. following on from Woodcote’s above very informative post.

Many thanks,
