Goodwood Revival Proxy - Car Builds - Kevan - 1st-May-24

We're half way through the current GT Sports Proxy, Slot Rally GB has visited, was thoroughly enjoyed...and moved on to the next venue...so it's time to get working on the Goodwood Revival Proxy cars.

I always find the hardest part is deciding on what cars to build. Looking down the list of eligible cars there's a couple or three possibilities for me but I really like small sports cars as it's something we race here in our club.

My first ever proxy entry was in the last ever IPS (International Proxy Series) for small sports, the series never got past round #1 in Greece as covid stopped the world on it's axis. Although the series has been resurrected in the last 2 years the rules are completely different and I feel the spirit of the original IPS is long lost as there's no slimline motor class and no front motor class.

The car I built was a Revell 1963 Corvette Stingray (Grand Sport) on a two part fibreglass chassis along the lines of a Revoslot, with the motor at the front of the chassis, it was one of 3 cars in the 'front motor class'.

Now it's time to send it back into the proxy arena with a new lease of life, a new chassis and a couple of new ideas from the recent Slot Rally GB.

This has a 3D chassis, a resin 3D pod and a Hawk 18k motor I bought about 6 or 7 years ago which used to live in a big Healey.
8mm wide rear tyres need sourcing...

Pulled another Camaro out of the box to start working on. We will see if it will be ready in time for the proxy.

Interesting chassis, is it a Scaleauto one ?

Mesh is set, need to have it ready for biannual testing on the 22nd and then blindly set spring rates based on what I see for the series. It will need to out run my Thunderslot Cuda. The chassis is a brass plate with metal bushing holders 2 springs on the pod and another on the guide.

It made it to the 2nd round, and this car was the fastset in front engine class,i am sorry to see it modified.A couple of photos i retrieved

The original chassis is still complete, do I get another Corvette and use that and keep this one as a survivor of the very last 'proper' IPS?

You can never have too many Corvettes Bigsmile

I did think about splitting this Event into a front and rear engine Classes, but I am not expecting to get sufficient entries to make that worth while. Perhaps another time.

Sure,i keep ,my successful cars intact,as my 1st front engine entry,which beat even all the rear engine cars but one:
