Cars you have bought in 2024 - Anthony B - 2nd-Jan-24

I have a friend that makes the most amazing cars and whenever he updates his collection and sells off a few I always buy them no matter what. These are the latest 2 I have bought!

This is a Betta and Classic Fibreglass body of the Surtees.

This the Ligier from 76, and first I thought the colour was wrong, until I found the pic of the real car. Seems it changed colours during the season.

I presume you'd never be brave enough to race them in competition.

No I will race them but carefully ??

Congrats Anthony! Nice looking pair!  Thumbup

RE: Cars you have bought in 2024 - Tibbs - 3rd-Jan-24

I managed to snap up these old 1/32 Airfix kits off ebay.
I got the 3 for £50.01, the Porsche was the one I ended up in a bidding war (sorry if it was anyone on here) that cost £22.
I'm going to do a little more research on the cars and come up with the race livery, the Ferrari I am 99% sure of what I'm going to do and it's not red Rofl
I'd love to find a Ferrari 315s or 335s body to build and race the Ford.

Look forward to figuring out making brass chassis' for them, keeping as much of the model internals I can.

Nice one Tibbs - LOVE those kits. Bought them when they cam out new in the 60's - not that I have those any longer.... Rofl

Two of the cars I have done. I did cheat a little and sourced original chassis to fit the cars. The Ford sits waiting in a long long queue waiting to be done. Tease Rofl Rofl

They're really cool Anthony, I've just realised the colour scheme I wanted to do the Ferrari won't work because the car I'd seen is a different Ferrari , I might still do it, I'll decide once its made it to the bench  Bigsmile

I remember being very confused by the Airfix artwork for the Carrera 6 as it looks like its racing through a farmyard.

RE: Cars you have bought in 2024 - StuBeeDoo - 9th-Jan-24

I rarely buy new cars these days (I've got far too many waiting in my "to be repaired" and "to be repainted" boxes), and I'm not altogether sure this one counts as 2024.  I ordered and paid for it on the 23rd December, knowing it wouldn't be dispatched until Jan 2nd........

When I first saw images of the new release, I was pleasantly surprised that the livery actually says "Embassy".  However, the display box has a disclaimer sticker on warning that the car has advertising that may not be appropriate for under 18s.   Bigsmile  One-up for the rivet counters among us???

Thats a good point, it's too modern a car to be racing when the likes of Donington still had buildings and lodges right next to the track or is it a attempt at a Targa Florio type scene?
