Scorpius Wireless Analogue lapcounter - ScorpiusWireless - 13th-Dec-23

Hi Guys,
Here it is. A wireless analogue lap counter compatible to Race Coordinator race software.
Each MPD lap counter is modular. Just pay for what you need.
Two lanes requires  1x MPD
Four lanes requires 2x MPD
Six lanes requires   3x MPD

Just plug in your dongle and load the driver. Power up the MPD lap counter and install the sensors and IR LEDS as per any analogue gantry set up.
Each time a car passes through the gantry a wireless request is made to add 1 lap to the tally.
Estimated cost 30.00GBP for each MPD counter.
50.00GBP for the dongle. 1 required.
Race Coordinator race software, the best of its kind, is by donation.

The unit is powered by 8.5-18V DC off your power supply.
The sensors and LEDs are plug’n’play. No soldering required.

Configuration of the MPD is fine via a free simple software program that chooses 2,4,6 or 8 lane set up.

Estimated release: Q3 2024

RE: Scorpius Wireless Analogue lapcounter - ScorpiusWireless - 7th-Sep-25

We’re starting to wrap these products up now we have the hardware finished.
Here’s the analogue lapcounter ready to program.
One photo transistor on a 300mm wire.
One IR LED on a 300mm wire.
Power in wires from 12V power supply.
Antenna.

Production version to have 600mm wires.

One unit is required for each lane.
Each unit needs to be configured to a lane number.

Recommend Race Coordinator race software.

You’ll need the Scorpius dongle.

$40USD per lane.
Plus $69USD for dongle.
Race Coordinator software by donation.

No wires back to the PC makes for a quick and neat install.

What’s interesting is it will be an actual lapcounter as well. You’ll just need an OLED to see the lap of time.
See the OLED?

This is just a proof of concept.
Because it’s 2IC protocol we will
use one of these beauties. A Nexion 4.3” LCD colour touchscreen. Plugs directly into the MPD.

So an all in one solution. No PC required. Quick, basic, perfect for solo or duo racing.
It can be set up so each driver has there own display.

Remote gantries are also possible if you didn’t want to run data wires. Example a wall screen.

Again the flexibility and hardware options on the MPD make almost any imaginable task possible.

So to summarise:
1: Connect wirelessly to a PC or laptop with Race Coordinator.
2. Use the Scorpius standalone unit with screen. No PC required.
