Paint spree - KensRedZed - 28th-May-23

I've been somewhat quiet the last little while. But I did find time to paint a few HO bodies recently. I may have gone a bit overboard. What else do you do while at the mental cottage rental?

Cheers,
Ken

Thank you kindly, gentlemen.

What can I say other than I like to paint cars.

One of my friends called it a "Bouquet of bodies".

Now I need to assemble a bus-load of chassis.

It's the one job I dislike, I see others great paint jobs and wish I had the patience to do a great job for a change.

Then I have good news Kevan. I have no patience either. A 1/32 car can be painted in exactly 4-minutes. An egg-timer is set at 1-minute intervals. 3-tack coats and 1-wet coat is applied. It takes about 5 to 10-minutes to prep a body. I don't use primer on plastic cars. It may take an extra minute to paint a 1/25 scale body. Tamiya spray cans work great.

I can get away with painting 3-HO cars the same colour from the same can in under 5-minutes. I found a groove that works.

I still use a primer on soft resin bodies to seal them prior to painting. That's about the only time. Very rarely build resin cars these days.

Cheers,
Ken

Blimey, that's quick work Ken.

I've been slowly chipping away at assembling chassis for all the bodies I painted last May. It only takes time and money.

My very first slot car set was a 1/32 Strombecker back in 1971. The white Chaparral 2D and yellow GT40 stood out as my favourite cars. These pics are from Google images. My Strombecker set is long gone.

You can see the yellow GT40 body hiding in the tree in the first post.

I finally installed a black stripe and assembled a chassis. This little car now brings back a lot of happy childhood memories.
