1/32 Ferrari 250 GTO options ? - Printable Version

1/32 Ferrari 250 GTO options ? - Savage GT - 12th-Dec-22

After the recent EIS Proxy, I have developed an itch for a couple of Ferrari 250 GTO's for using at home.
The plan is to get a nice body and replace the chassis and running gear.

The cars in the proxy were Fly, which looked great on their own, but when comparing to the 1:1 cars, look a little off.
They are available new still, but considering I would junk all the running gear, would work out an expensive conversion.

After some research, it appears the most accurate slot car version was made by Revel/Monogram, Albeit a different year/version to the Fly ones) but they are like rocking horse poop !

Next closest apparently are Pink Kar, allegedly these were a scaled down version of a Rev/Mono 1/24 kit, these I can find for not silly money, they do have a bit of that toy-ish look, but can look pretty nice with a little work. Does anyone have any any idea of the width and body+interior weight of the pink kars ?

Scalextric also made a few,  but these are a little squared off, and quite expensive now.

There is also the option of Resin bodies if they a fairly recent mould with a reasonable weight.

Are there any other avenues of reasonably accurate, available and inexpensive 1/32 bodies anyone knows of ?

The Revell body is the best (light), contact Phil Smith, he should be able to supply a body/interior at a reasonable price.

Just put your 1:1 Ferrari under a car cover when the guys come over to race. That way no one can compare them. Problem solved.  Thumbup

I like the Fly body for the parts that are still somewhat accurate. There's no such thing as a perfect slot car. Fly Ferrari's are still current means you can usually find one used. Or at least get a good deal at a slot car flea market.

The Pink kar one weights(body and cockpit) 20 grams.
Have you considered 3d printing one?There is plenty of files available

I don't have a 3d printer, and Im not patient enough to sand all the print lines down  Bigsmile
You wouldn't happen to know what the width is on the Pink Kar version ?

3D printing leaves hollows not highs, it's best to skim a really thin layer of filler then flat back down.

Width is 53.5 mm

What are the bits either side of the hollows called?

That's the top surface of your 3D file.
