DiSCA Le Mans 24hrs 9th Edition 2-3 April 2022 - BAracer - 16th-Mar-22

Worthing Digital will be competing in this year's event in the LMP2 class, with the capable trigger fingers of Alex Stone, Mike Dadson, Jean Lefebvre and Ed Pink along with my 'not quite so capable' trigger finger.

The Audi R10 the club entered when the the race was last run has been breathed on by master builder Mike, has been lit by Andy and Jean, and is looking good!

We are hoping to see it carry on where it left off last time, as it finished strongly after a difficult baptism earlier in the race. Alex and Ed ran it in a warm up event last week and it performed well.

Watching DiSCA Le Mans videos on YouTube was one of the prompts that got me back into the hobby. So to actually be there will be something else!

We are having a final team meeting on Saturday to go through plans and make sure all the controllers talk to the car. We might even have a little play around on the track to see if we can get our driver changeovers as slick as an F1 pit stop!

Yes, but only after the event!

It's an Olifer 3dp chassis for the Avant Slot Audi body, built to be bulletproof for 24hrs and 1 minute...

Had our last practice session yesterday.

First time I had seen the cars. They look the part and we settled on the technical spec we will start practice with on the Friday.

Learnt a lot about our SCPs. They felt a lot more familiar than last time as most of us have been using them for the past few months at recent analogue race meetings. Just need to sort out how to 'clone' them and we will be as ready as we can be in that department.

Plus...nearest 24hr food outlet to the event identified!

However, if I forget the kettle, I might struggle.

(and I should have known I wouldn't be able to buy some normal Heinz Pot Noodles in our local Waitrose)

And the race chassis was finished last night, and it looks absolutely beautiful. It could be a contender for the concours if it wasn't hidden by the body.
