Good Day from Central New York State! - Smokeader - 17th-Jan-22

Retired US Navy vet continuing to serve my community as a volunteer fire fighter.  Marries to my best friend for over 35 years, we have three grown children and two chihuahuas who now run the house.  Looking to get back into the hobby after being away since the late 80s.  Looks like AFX HO Scale as won over Carrera Digital 1/32, but have not made the final sale yet.
Looking for advice from those who have been doing this far longer than I, so some questions may be forthcoming.
