Are there any inventory programs out there? If not how do y'all keep track of stuff, cars, motors etc?

If you Google 'collectors database' then some quite general programs and apps will be listed - most of which will be adaptable to slot cars.
The Ultimate Racer 3.0 (
www.uracerweb.org) slot car software package - track design, race management etc - also contains a database...
Quote:The slot-car database is where you enter the details of your slotcars. This can be as simple as entering a car's name, or you can take it much further and keep track of brands, reference numbers, categories, racing numbers and even technical information like gear ratios and maintenance history.
Personally, I keep all the info in my head... not ideal, but it beats trying to remember to update a database

Forgot I had Ultimate Racer! Found another one called Slot Car 2000. Like it better. :)

I started off making written build lists. That took time.
Once I started making build files with my camera. I used the pics to keep track of what went into what car. Much faster, for me at least.
63 Vette with a 22.5k Slot.It flat-6 motor, 9x26 gears and CB wheels.

64 Rover BRM with a 14k BWNC1 motor, 10x23 gears and Slot.It magnesium wheels.

When I plan a build. I always start off with a build sheet. It also helps keep track of the different cars and wheelbases in case I want to build another. I had to make a one-time template/build sheet for the way I build. I just print them off and fill them out. They can get eaten by the dog after I take a pic.

I go back to the build sheet and finished pics to check what's in each car. Easy to update the file with a new pic.

I stumbled across Recollector, it is as it's name suggests a collection software. When registered, which is cheap, you can start multiple collections such as stamps, slot cars, music, DVD etc. Very easy to use, allows you to include multiple images, I've done 30 photo's as a test without problems, I run mine from a network folder, it has a smartphone app as well that let's you carry your collection with you everywhere, again this operates via a cloud platform without issue.

I had started to do that but just wasn't quite happy with it, though spreadsheets are very powerful if setup and implemented correctly, including images.
I found Recollector so much simpler to use, I was up and running in five minutes, added up to 20 images for one car as a test, for the small amount to register it what could be easier.

Does Recollector have any sort of Data Import feature?

I don’t keep an inventory, much to afraid that SWMBO finds it sooner or later

Importing Data into the Collection
Data to be imported must be in one of two formats:
[*]
An Excel spreadsheet, with the field names specified in row 1 of the spreadsheet.
[*]
A delimited text file This kind of file is often referred to as a “comma-separated-values” file, or CSV file (even if the character used to separate the fields is not a comma). There are numerous online descriptions of CSV files
