Started refurbishing a 250LM that has been languishing in a box for 25 odd years. and ....... how the heck to you remove wheel inserts

I have tried , knife scalpel,screwdriver to no avail..... so before I cut them out - any ideas???

Hello Anthony,
If you really want to preserve the inserts, carefully drill a small hole in the rear of the wheel so that you can push through the blunt end of the drill. If really tight you may have to drill a another hole diametrically opposite.

I dropped a body into a jar of Super Clean degreaser to remove the paint and found it loosened all the glued parts that were epoxied in place.

Try removing the tire and drop the wheels in Super Clean for 3-days. It will remove the paint from the insert. But might also loosen the glue bond.

If the insert is press fit? Leo's way is the only way.

You could try soaking in lighter fluid or petrol. Its worked for me to release inserts secured using Evo-stik impact adhesive.
