What every scratch builder must have... - BAracer - 13th-Aug-20

Mahogany set up plates made by my father-in-law out of his next door neighbours old front door.

He managed to make 17 from the leftovers after he made us a nice round garden table!

Here's a pic of my plate.
Carbon fibre plate on sponge feet
Underside are magnets of sufficient strength to replicate the downforce from Ninco track rails.
The holes are to give access to depth gauge to measure ride height.

When this is all over Alan, i need to come and see your workshop and pick up as many tips as i can from you!

As you can see, I'm just getting into mahogany stage whereas you are long gone from here!

You'd be disappointed I'm sure...
Being a club-only racer, I have very little at home to support my hobby.
No home test track.
The only decicated tools I have are the ones I have in the toolbag I take to clubtracks Sun

Hi Jeremy, almost too nice looking for a "working" set-up block Bigsmile

, but, it will certainly do the trick.

If you are racing on plastic track (with slightly raised rails) , you can run a strip of masking/copper tape on either side of the slot in your set up block........this will make the block a closer replication of your plastic track, and will allow for a more precise set-up.

I have a few of these that have progressed through the years

This first one was made for me way back in the 90’s. However it’s base was too thin and the guides would stick out the bottom

This second one I also had made in 90’s after the one above . This one was deep enough but not big enough.

This was made for me in the nauties. There is a top and bottom view , You will note 4 screws in the middle. These are there so that min clearance can be set, and then the car set up.
