Lotus 24 BRM - Jo Siffert -
David Mitcham - 17th-Jul-20
I like unusual GP cars and one that caught my attention recently was Jo Siffert's 1963 Lotus 24 BRM because of its unusual engine cover and particularly the shortened nose as raced in the Monaco GP. I carved the body based on a blueprint of a standard 24 and from photographs of the Siffert car of which there are a surprising number on the web. My good friend John Warren then moulded and cast it for me and, after a five week journey from New Zealand, I began work on it last week. The photographs below show the actual car and where I've got to.

David. Nice start to a beautiful car. I look forward to seeing how you finish it.
Policar pod with a scratch nose? Interesting to see how you joined it.

Thanks for the compliments.
Ken,
Here is a photograph of the underside of the chassis. The front is attached to the rear of the Policar pod by screws through a brass plate to which the side rails are soldered; the third mounting point uses one of the Policar pod front mounting points screwed to another brass plate. The tape on the bottom of the motor is to stop anything getting in there during building.

The chassis looks great!
We've only seen an unpainted body so far. Looks painted from the underside. What does it look like "red side up?".

Here's the latest progress on the Lotus. Its at that slow stage of painting, detailing and letting things dry.

After quite a protracted build the Siffert Lotus 24 BRM is finished. It goes well and is one my quickest early '60s GP cars.
