Old SF member introduced to SlotRacer Online - 1eye101 - 8th-Jul-20

Hi all!

I'm an old SF member from 12 odd years ago that recently dug out the scalextric to show my kids some entertainment that doesn't involve a mobile phone, tablet or games console!
Got this rug race track set up in the lounge and the kids are loving it!

This has inspired me to build a 3 lane wood analogue track that can be dismantled and stored away.  I'll set up a new thread in the tracks section for that but here's a quick peek!

Thanks to Savage (if he's called that on here!) for pointing me over to here, looking forward to looking around and contributing the forum.

Cheers

Stuart

Hello 1eye101, greetings from Scotland.  This forum is a fresh start and that's always a good opprotunity.

Good to hear about the next generation liking slot-car racing   Thumbup

Timing system looks a bit analogue!!

Routed track looks like you can remove the straights and have a short track when appropriate?

Welcome Stuart. Wavegreen

Great to hear you're getting the younger generation into slot cars.

Your routed track looks like it will be mighty fast.

WavegreenWelcome aboard Stuart. Looking forward to seeing the progress on your track.

Hi Leo, Rob and Brian, thanks for the welcome.

Timing system on the digital track?  Its the old 1.5 6 car power base with the MS64 mod (using the 4 car power base for more power).  The regulated power supply is ancient but works perfectly!

There's a clamp holding the banked curve together on the routed track which looks like a light bridge if that's what you were revering to!

Yes the routed track could be made smaller/larger and I could add different sections in in future!

Yes fast with a slight technical end, need it to simple enough for my kids to use it mag free.  Nice big banked curve at the end of the straight :)

Cheers

Stuart

Hello Stuart,
My comment was supposed to be humour, referencing " doesn't involve a mobile phone, tablet or games console".
Ooops, my bad - if one has to explain humour, its not funny...

Haha, I didn't get that one either Leo, but now you've explained it, it's pretty good.

Some of us find this to be a more useful method of lap timing:[attachment=7496]
