RE: GT3 Proxy 2022 Registration - Cgyracer - 15th-Oct-21

My Scaleauto Corvette the last two seasons had a full stock glass interior but yes some entrants will have the lexan glass interior as well.   Ade's and Tatter's cars look fantastic!   I have three of those Amoto chassis for various cars too.
Looking forward to those European cars.....I would love to see a killer car or two from each continent battling against each other for first place!

So I managed to sneak in an hour of set up time and managed to find what I hope will be a useful couple of 10ths.

Main changes were a bit more weight, 5g split between pod and just behind guide post and changing front axle set up from slight tripod to solid outrigger.

The tripod worked well on fast sweepers but on our tightest hairpin it was causing the car to rest on the chassis rather than the front wheels to get round. That didn't sound very nice and I don't think can be the optimum way to get round a corner. Time will tell!

I do wonder if it's slightly over powered for a proxy, I notice this has a lot more torque than the nsr sharks which seem to be popular and I had to be wary of using full throttle on anything but the 2  straights.

I do have a shark 25k knocking around. Do I make such a dramatic change with no more set up time available hmmm decisions decisions.

I’m thinking if you lost a couple of tenths with the car and the car feels smooth, balanced, and hooked up …..I would just leave it.

One very good final test is to get another driver to drive it.   Even setting the car down for a few days or longer and testing again helps point out any deficiencies.  If the car feels just as good as before that is the setup to send.

Just a friendly reminder the deadline is November 12th, 2021.

* All international and domestic entrants that need to mail their cars will have a deadline of Monday November 1st to have their packages postmarked. This will eliminate the guesswork of shipping in today's world thus no need for some entrants to ship their cars a month or longer ahead of time. All other cars postmarked after November 1st or hand delivered must be delivered by November 12th without penalty.

RE: GT3 Proxy 2022 Registration - tatter06 - 22nd-Oct-21

In an attempt to get a bit more tuning time in I ran the car in our open club class last night to try and look into Robs observation .....does the car feel smooth, balanced, and hooked up?

Well it is fast, if it wasn't for a big off the caused the below damage losing at least 3 laps then it would have been upper mid table in a field of moslers and lmp cars with unlimited motors, weight, tyres etc.

But it was a tricky beast tbh, good grip and speed but snatchy on acceleration, and that was with me playing with the torque/punch/acceleration settings on the throttle which I'm sure won't be afforded in a proxy.

So a change to the shark 25k is going to happen, hopefully less torque will tame the beast.

I should get an hour in this weekend to test before it really must get in the post.

"snatchy on acceleration"

Great observation and valuable!  I agree now, try the 25 Shark.  I see a lot of 30K motored cars (some are great) but most are a little loose on acceleration therefore the driver will not have confidence to be able to hit the gas a little early out of the corner.

And now I remember why I didn't use the shark in the first place! Spot the difference. Other than the pinion of course.

I hope it was a good move to swap as I am fairly commited now!

The damage to the front has been repaired although a tiny piece still missing. Certainly not going to be winning any concours!

RE: GT3 Proxy 2022 Registration - Brumos RSR - 22nd-Oct-21

Put a little fiberglass tape on the back side of the damaged area or across the entire front inside the body.  There’s one track with a tough tournament 1 after a long straight

Thank you will try that.  unfortunately that's a pretty standard evenings damage, especially with  the more performance orientated brands making bodies so light and thin.

RE: GT3 Proxy 2022 Registration - tatter06 - 24th-Oct-21

Ok shark 25k is in and despite being mostly held in by thoughts and prayers (and hot glue) the mesh is smooth. Front area is now reinforced with tape. A few test laps this morning, it's lost a 10th of ultimate pace but definitely smoother and easier to drive, you don't need to as cautious on the throttle.

Still more torque than grip coming out of the tight hairpin and off the start but I'm going to try a little more softening of the tyres to help with that. After 30 seconds or so the tyres are warmed up and the grip and torque find a nice balance.
