RE: Lights on ! Le Mans Cars - Graham - 25th-Sep-21

Wavegreen Morning all,

Most of the cars have either arrived or should hopefully arrive on or just after Monday's Scrutineering day. The event series starts on the 2nd October at the Harlequin Race  Circuit.

Below is the Format under which the cars will be competing.

Le Mans Race format-Championship Style (Series of timed trials)
Each of the hosts will run the entrants cars on either a club wooden routed track or a plastic based home track. We have 3 club tracks hosting this competition South Manchester Slot Racing club (SMSRC), North East Restoration Club Slots (NERCS) & Woodland Fort Slot club. And 3 home based hosts Graham (Carrera), Paul (Policar) and Kevin (Scalextric Sport) tracks. There will be 2 stages run by each host to simulate daylight and “dusk”light running conditions. There will be no shallow slot rail tracks used, but the home tracks are limited to accepting car slot guides of no deeper than 7mm.

At each venue the cars are run a period of laps and on any number of lanes as determined by the host or club and depending on each track length and number of cars entered. The host will determine the final order of the cars in terms of fastest to slowest using their own lap time measurement method. Where possible it is preferred that the Entrants are not running their own cars. The timings will be posted by the host at the end of the two rounds for both “Daylight & Nightime” runs. Thereafter the Event coordinator will then post the official positions and points allocated to each car in all four of the classes. And normally the next day will post the accrued number of points as the series progresses.

Overall Class winners – will be the cars which have accrued the most points over the Championship series.

Event Series winner – will be the Team who has the highest number of combined cars accrued points at the end of the Series.

Cars fitted with lights will be eligible for full Team points, whereas cars entered without lights will still be allowed full points for their run times during the daylight stages, but will only qualify for half points during the “dusk” light stages.

RE: Lights on ! Le Mans Cars - Graham - 25th-Sep-21

Wavegreen Hi Guys,

Had a busy day today trying to finish my own cars, two ready and one almost apart from a rather important bit that broke  Tappingfoot hoping to find a solution tomorrow.

Anyway I did receive another 2 entrants cars this morning, so I have updated the entrants list below.
One more teams car is in transit from the US and 2 more teams are hopefully coming before I officially start the competition next weekend. I have waived the Scrutineering deadline abit as I know these 2 entrants are very keen to participate and have been unavoidably delayed due to work commitments. Times have changed and we must make allowances when we can. There are two more teams who I just not been able to contact, I hope they are OK, but sadly looks like they will not be competing.

Brumos RSR - Brumos RSR - 25th-Sep-21

Wow!!! That was faster than expected, based on this I could have finished the Toyota.

RE: Lights on ! Le Mans Cars - Graham - 27th-Sep-21

Wavegreen Hi Guys, well today was the deadline for receiving cars, I have had contact with all but one of the original list of entrants, 4 of which are still in the post so should reach me before the first Stage of the series planned for next Saturday at the Harlequin Raceway.

I have started the scrutineering of the cars received, with my own ones today.
I have to confess that my own Policar Ferrari is the first car to fail the spec, the body weight being only 18.2% of the total car weight  Tappingfoot looks like that will need fixing tomorrow. My others have passed. My other issue is that my "Stirling Moss" Aston Martin DBR1/2 has a damaged chassis, so I am hoping a another is to be delivered tomorrow otherwise I will have to withdrawn Stirling from the Competition.

Here is the hopeful Road runners Team

RE: Lights on ! Le Mans Cars - classicchrisk - 28th-Sep-21

Just wondered what the position was if a car, fitted with lights, had a lighting failure during the event? Do they still get the "Fitted with lights" benefit, if one or both fail?
We all know how temperamental lights can be, especially the "grain of wheat" bulbs.

During testing, on the club track, I had one start to glow extremely brightly, for a lap, then went out completely. The other side had no issues. Not sure if it was the club's 13.5v track voltage that upset it, but the other bulb was fine.

RE: Lights on ! Le Mans Cars - Graham - 28th-Sep-21

Hi Chis,

that's a good question  Idea

Basically if the lights are working at the start of the series, the car is said to be "with lights" regardless of whether they continue to work either at the end of the first run or even later  Sun

RE: Lights on ! Le Mans Cars - Graham - 28th-Sep-21

Wavegreen Hi Folks, well it was scrutineering day and I had great fun measuring and weighing all the cars.

There is just one entrant which was further delayed, but I am confident that these will arrive tomorrow.
So I intend to issue a Scrutineer Report tomorrow for each class of cars.

However we now have a final entry list of cars for all the 4 classes
