After 24 years of usage my truer was tired. And it was all due to the drum. Ordered a new one from mid America hobbies which arrived today. Replaced old one. Pic is of old one. Anyone have any experience of adding cloth type sand paper to ‘refurbish’ it?

You can clearly see the wear on it. So really needed a change.

Hi Anthony, You may be able to find some appropriately sized sanding drums (tubes) online.......a far better (and smarter) option than gluing on some paper.

RGEO (google) and others offer Hudy replacement drums that are a slightly different diameter, and these accept sanding drums that are readily available (and inexpensive) online or in the local shops.

bought these for my 3dp hudy type tyre truer 
they fit and work well
sourcing map 1 Inch x 1 Inch Sanding Sleeves 240 Grits Sandpapers Band Drums 10 Pcs: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools
dunno if any good for original hudy
