RE: Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy - CMOTD - 1st-Dec-22

The cars have arrived safely in the wilds of Norfolk and are lined up on the grid ready for the off. Top marks to Graham for the latest packaging arrangement, DHL have not managed to wreck the box yet.

I have given them a shakedown this morning and all are running OK. There are some seriously quick cars there, particularly in class D, but I was quite bemused by the lighting arrangements on some. When I removed the power their lights stayed on and some started flashing for quite some time, I assume there is some type of capacitor back up involved but I have not come across this before.

Questions
Two cars - Scott Sports Jag in class A and Groundhogs De Tomaso in class C were missing their front fixing screws. They were not loose in the box or deposited on the track after shakedown so I don't know if this is intentional or not. I will assume they need replacing and fit new ones unless I am advised otherwise by Graham or the entrants.

Suggestion for future proxies - make tape or Blu Tack on screws mandatory as is the case with most club racing.

Lifeboats class D Porsche has the body glued, rather than screwed, to the chassis and has come adrift on one side. It still runs but wobbles a lot so I will reattach it. It is plastic to metal so is Superglue alright for the purpose?

After the shakedown was finished I found this small piece of lead on the track. I have no idea which car it came from but if anybody recognises it please let me know and I will see if it can be replaced:[attachment=27649]

The round will be run next Wednesday 7th with report to follow the next day or so. Tel (Savage GT) will come over to help and will then take the cars back to his place where the final round will be run on Saturday 10th.

RE: Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy - Graham - 2nd-Dec-22

Wavegreen Good afternoon,

I started this year with the "Triple Crown Proxy Series Award" in mind to recognise the Team which had generally performed the best over the 3 different disciplines of proxy's which we are about to complete with the ending of the Endurance & InterSeries. The other two being the "America Road Race" in the spring and the "Grand Prix" in the summer.

So I thought I would post the results so far for the 1st and 2nd of the 3 proxy's.
The top 10 Teams are pictured below and the overall results I have added as an attachment
[attachment=27659]

The Team Points are self explanatory.
"The Average Fastest lap" results were taken by awarding points for both Cars in each class separately and combining the results ( 10 points for 1st place, 9 for 2nd etc)
"Best presented" was the "Best presented highest scoring car" of each entrant by voting of entrants and hosts and dividing the result by the number of voting participants.

I have this rather nice Trophy which has been in my possession since the beginning of the year below
But I won't be giving it up without a struggle  Rofl

In true, better late than never style, I give to you the footage from the round 5 class c:

RE: Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy - CMOTD - 8th-Dec-22

Round 7 Conington Park
The round was run yesterday with co-host Tel sharing driving duties and a bacon roll or two. As usual I drove the classes in which he has an entry to avoid any hint of favouritism so class A and D were my domain with Tel doing B and C. The shakedown had not flagged any major mechanical problems although the racing did produce a couple but more of that later.

Each car was given a 25 lap run with the aim of quickish, steady, consistent laps rather than an outright attempt at fast times which could have resulted in too many offs and possible damage. My track is not too technical and tends to reward acceleration and straight line speed, but the twisty bits are not as simple as they may look so handling is still a factor.

Class A - Modern Endurance 24 hours
This ran to previous form with Tel's BMW leaving the rest to eat his dust and the Mercs of Team Tatters and Roadrunners scrapping over the other podium places. In a previous round somebody mentioned that the class B Aston of Roadrunners had a smelly motor - it has afflicted their Merc in this class now! Either they are both about to let the smoke out or Graham has just got a pair of stinky ones!

Class B - Classic Le Mans
Bit of a shake up in the usual order here. Roadrunners Aston developed a touch of the dreaded Ninco hop and tumbled down the order to 5th place, the motor still pongs as well! Mountain View's GTO was again the class of the field but Bangers Racing's Cobra was not far behind with BARacer's GTO a little adrift in 3rd place.

Class C - Classic Daytona
We had a couple of problems in this class.
Green Star's De Tomaso expired on the 14th lap. There was nothing outwardly wrong with it but it ground to a halt and refused to fire up again. It would have needed a full strip down to diagnose the fault so a DNF was recorded.
Oaktree Racer's Porsche 914 suffered gear failure during its warm up laps, probably a loose pinion, but again a full strip down needed so it recorded a DNS. Tel will attempt to repair both cars before the next round.

There was also a shake up at the top of the table with Team Tatters' BMW only managing  6th place. It handled well but seemed woefully short on acceleration. Courtney's Camaro finished on top of the podium, just shading ALS Racing's Lancia with the similar car of Bangers Racing a bit adrift in third place.

Class D - Inter Series
There are some seriously quick cars in this class with 4 of them turning in very impressive sub 5 second laps. Courtney's Porsche 917 was an absolute rocket ship and probably the fastest car I have ever run on this track. It had nearly 6 seconds lead over the 2nd placed Alfa of Mountain view with a record shattering 4.6sec fastest lap. Brumos' McLaren was close behind the Alfa in 3rd place, Tel's Ferrari missed out on the podium by just a couple of 10ths and Ruscillo Racing's GT40 was less than a second behind him in 5th so the top half of the table was incredibly close.

The cars are now at Roughwood for the final round which will be run on Saturday so we get the bonus of being able to  play with these lovely cars twice. Tel's track is radically different to mine with a tricky set of S bends and a couple of nasty hairpins so it will be interesting to see if the pecking order is upset on this more technical track.

My thanks to Graham and all the entrants for providing a fun day playing with other people's cars.

RE: Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy - BAracer - 8th-Dec-22

Sorry about the Astra....but I'll take the Ferrari podium!

So tomorrow I will do my Pitlane Review, the cars are already at Roughwood Raceway getting prepared for the final Round of the EIS proxy

RE: Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy - Savage GT - 8th-Dec-22

Yes, it was good fun playing with the cars, and I get to do it again soon :)

Thanks Brian, for the Bacon rolls, and thank your good lady for the lovely home made coffee and walnut cake with salted caramel.
She always makes great cakes, but that is now my favourite Bigsmile

Cars are safely in the box in my dining room, and I hope to get the repairs sorted tomorrow, ready for Saturdays run, assuming Oaktree and Green Star are happy to let me fix them ?

RE: Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy - Qman - 8th-Dec-22

More than happy for you to (attempt) fix the 914/6 but ONLY if you have time, the car isn't threatening the leaderboard and probably wont be missed if it doesn't run Ambulance

Great work and very good feedback .

Thank you as I know it is time consuming.
