We have just added the NSR F1 cars to our group racing and have to say they are pretty good on the track with no magnets

Yes they are.

Just don't let the tires touch, or they really go airborne.

Yes well open wheelers come with that downside of lettings tyres touch on cornering and deslotting, this has occured a few times though I have to say it hasn't been as bad as I was expecting, yet

Racing F1's teaches you new driving skills, as you've found out they don't work well side-by-side so you take avoiding action... saying that, some never learnĀ  Ambulance
