Handmade or finger-clicked – I never had to choose between them! My hands are far better than my fingers, so to speak.
 
I really enjoy the long process of planning, researching, looking at photos, settling on dimensions, starting with a wooden block, slowly working my way onward, and finally being able to drive the car! Once gone through all these phases, you get to know the car in a deeper way... I would say it is my main approach to slot cars.
A great thing about this hobby is the versatility, most anyone can find their own space...

John, just out of curiosity (I try not to get too much involved in casting), did you cast it in one piece, including the grille and the „rocket“headrest?

Ralph, the headrest and grill were moulded and cast separately to the body....

Coming on slowly, I am in no hurry.

For the sharp tail, I could not use only wood.
A piece of 1,5mm brass was bent...

...and then glued on and shaped. More to do inside the frame.

With a little luck, I often find a suitable piece of plastic for louvres, but not this time.
Trying to make the smaller louvres cross-grain was not a brilliant idea!
 I cut out and laid down small bits grained in the other direction instead.

For the chassis, I am using an old PPL sidewinder that has been laying around too long.

Sorry to bore you with all the small steps, but, on the other hand,  some souls might find it interesting!

I often mess up my builds when it comes to mounting the screens. The way this car looks...

...makes me quite sure I can't get a nice fit if mounting the screen on top of the body.
So I've cut away the body part behind the screen, and made a slanted opening for the screen, to be mounted from the inside.
