That does make sense - in theory. However, in practice, the P6 compound (for Carrera Track) works for us on big Sport tracks far better than any of the other Slot.it compounds. We experimented on a spec Slot.it tyre for a new Slot.it Group C class and the F22s we presumed we’d use just didn’t have the grip - it put the Group Cs a few tenths a lap slower than stock Scalextric BTCC cars running on urethanes. That really wasn’t what we wanted! Trying the N18s was no better. Using the P6s gave superior grip and better lap times than the standard C1s. The P6s also work well on the Scalextric BTCC rims and the new in-line GT cars - equivalent in terms of performance to the urethanes. I suspect the new Thunderslot Carrera-compound tyres would be worth trying too.

RE: 'Go to' tyres? - Top Down - 19th-Jun-19

Guidance from the local 'gurus' was split 50/50 - urethanes or Slot.it P6's - so I'm hedging my bets.

Three different sizes of P6's are already on their way. (Which size do you use most at WHO Andy?)

Just waiting on the price + postage for the urethanes.

We ran the PT24s as the Group C control tyre and I use those on my BTCC car and Porsche 911 RSR. I’ve also used the PT1207P6 (which is a little taller) on my BTCC car and AMC Javelin. This is a useful guide: https://www.pendleslotracing.co.uk/service-centre/compatibility.html#slotit

Thanks Andy.

That guide just left me baffled though. Too much information!

(I hadn't spotted the wheel dimension graphics below it though.)

Your explanation is much more useful  Thumbup

So are the PT25's I've ordered redundant then?

RE: 'Go to' tyres? - slotloco - 19th-Jun-19

I just had a sqizz at that Pendleslot chart, some useful information but on my reckoning, their summary of axle sizes at top is incorrect from my experience
Copying from their page, I have put some data in red at the side, based on my experience with these makers.

Cartrix - 2.4mm    2.48
Ninco  - 2.46mm   2.45 -  2.46
NSR - 2.37mm      2.37
Policar                   2.38
Scalextric - 2.35mm  Not sure what they are measuring as there are splined and smooth
ScaleAuto              2.38
SCX - 2.4mm        2.48
Sideways              2.38

Slot.it - 2.38mm    2.38
Spirit - 2.44mm     2.40
Thunderslot           2.38

Sideways compatibility with Slot.it is well known, But not everyone knows that the ScaleAuto gimbal bushes are inter-changeable with the Slot.it ones, and thus, so are their axles and wheels. - Which is also nice if you want to fit any of the ScaleAuto nice mag wheels to a Slot.it GT

Received the P6's and yes, the P25's are redundant at the moment. At 20mm they are loose on the rims I've tried so far - but I'm sure they'll work on something.

Tyres are very much a matter of personal preference.
The general rule of thumb is to ask at your local club.

Rears:
I use Slot.IT-E1, NSR Ultra , Policar F22, slot.it-n18 or NSR Red on Ninco track depending on the class of racing
I use ortmann (urethane) or "sculpture" on scalextric sport track depending on the local club rules.

Fronts:
Slot it zeroes or NSR factory fitted tyres.

There is a thread on the other forum regarding slot.it tyres that you might find useful.
https://www.slotforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=163658&hl=%2Btyre+%2Bpast+%2Band+%2Bpresent

In summary, there is no ONE tyre that does everything so using different compounds is a normal thing to do.

Aye, there's the rub.

Two different schools of thought. The 'winningest' driver said urethanes, the best 'car setup' man said Slot.it P6's.  Bigsmile

So .... I'm trying both  Thumbup
