It's also quick through the chicane on our 3 lane track, a great all-rounder that I don't think Andy was expecting.

Slot Rally - 9th October 2025

.
Six drivers meant two groups of three, each with four cars meant a really good spread through the various classes.
.
Brian, Andy & Chris started on Little Druidale stage whilst Mike, Kev & Gav started on TT Grandstand stage.
.
During early evening practice Andy thought Little Druidale was a bit ‘slippy’...subsequent testing by Brian saw him convinced two corners were also ‘slippy’ (failing to notice they were 90 degree corners off a fast straight)...I wasn’t convinced.
…seems like it’s easy to psyche some people easier than others  ?
.
We have noticed that cars not used for a couple of months tend to need at least one lot of racing to scuff the rubber enough to improve grip.  As we last used the Rally cars in July, it would explain Andy’s observations… but these are Rally cars on Rally stages, ‘slippy’ should be par for the course ?
.
Gav, Brian & Mike did a good job of supporting the ‘Back 2 Basics’ Class.  These are basically out of the box cars with better tyres and some ballast. Five different cars were on the entry list tonight.
.
With Ed not turning up tonight, Kev’s BMW was the only ‘Standard’ Class car.  This is for ‘Back 2 Basics’ cars with original bodyshell & chassis.
.
Five of us raced ‘Pro-Stock’ Class cars, eleven cars in total.
.
The other seven cars were ‘Open’ Class with entries from four different drivers.
.
The three distinctly different Rally stages always find cars suited more to one track above the others.
.
As expected, plenty of class winners.
Twelve classes were represented, and everyone had at least one class winner tonight.

Slot Rally - 13th November 2025

.
A new look results table, or more like a throwback to how we used to categorise the classes… .
A first time experience for our latest club member, Jamie, hadn’t even seen Carpark Chaos Stage before… for a first timer on the Rally stages he did very well indeed, it won’t be long before we see his cars higher up the results tables.
.
Three cars not seen on the Rally stages before: .
Jamie was really pleased with his Honda Civic, prepped by Kev.  The Ferrari 250 LM he borrowed off Andy also went much better than expected.  Both of these were his best performing cars tonight.
.
Kev’s white XK120 only finished being built in the afternoon, went really well until the last stage and was making horrible scraping noises on Little Druidale stage which turned out to be a body screw backed out and rubbing the track.
…ironic that Kev fell foul of the ‘screw’tineers advice at the AGM… tape over screws please!
His Opel Manta and Studebaker were setting the pace on overall stage times despite the long tail end of the Stude’ wagging about in corners.
.
Having a few cars that perform very closely across a few different classes is a great starting point and Brian has that with his Abarth S2000, Renault Megane and Ninco Subaru.
In theory, the NSR Abarth should be his best car which wasn’t the case early on but was proved to be the case in the end.  The Standard Class Ninco Scooby is a super car.
.
Ed’s Mini and Metro went best on the never-ending-twist (Carpark Chaos) but his best car was the Porsche 935…more on that car at the end!
.
Andy’s Open Class cars are an interesting mix, all go well but the ‘67 Mustang just seems the most stable all-rounder of the four cars.  You always find one Rally stage suits one car over the others, this is certainly the case with his Ferrari F40 on Carpark Chaos stage.
.
…getting back to Ed’s Porsche!
As Ed was twiddling with the controller adjustments, there was a comment that those knobs didn’t actually do anything, there for show, Brian likened it to a North Korean radio to much mirth, adjust it how you like but there’s no change.
…so Andy decided he was going to ‘have a go’ with Ed’s Porsche after some random controller adjustments by Ed… followed by the rest of us, all using randomly different ‘settings’ and ignoring the number of ‘off’s’ the times weren’t a million miles apart.

That’s the final Slot Rally for 2025 but the Rally stages will be seen in action again for the ‘Turkey Targa’ Florio the week before Christmas Day.
