I finally did it!

Today has been relatively warm and after a morning's work in the garden, removing old fences bound in with grass, I reckon I deserved a break.

Cleaned up the track after its winter layoff and ran a few cars. Once the grip returned, I, very carefully, took the Alfa out of its box and gave it a quick run. Didn't push at all as I didn't want to mark the immaculate paintwork. Actually handled very well and the standard tyres - I assume rubber - seemed pretty good. It could never be described as fast of course. Only 19,000 rpm motor after all although it will probably loosen up a bit if I dare run it again. The thought of something like an NSR 38,000 rather appeals but that will be for much later.

There has been a change of plan for the new track. It was going to be in one of the big lofts over the house but that would require boarding and insulating walls and ceiling. i'm getting a bit tired of building. The plan now is to use what is my workshop at present and move all the tools and bench into the garage. It's not likely that I will be doing any major woodwork in the future, I am after all, nearly 76 and it's about time I took it easier. The room is 4 by 5 metres so a reasonable L or U shaped track can be fitted. The garage is bigger so there will be plenty of room with more for the car than there is at present with the track in there.

Must start designing although it will a while yet.

Well someone has to be Steve or is it that I just seemed so much older to you?

If so, please listen out for the sound of a raspberry  Wavegreen

I keep two copies of LOTRs. My parents gave me the india paper edition for my 21st birthday. Whilst I do read it occasionally, I tend to use the paperback as the india paper is so fragile.

So it's a sort of shelf queen book!

After a lifetime of reading, the collection has been thinned down each time we move. I guess it's about 90% sci-fi now. It's strange that I can reread so many of them but, apart from a few, once I've read the classics I don't feel moved to repeat the experience. I have thousands of books on the Mac but still much prefer to hold the paper in my hands and read. Seems to suit holding a glass of wine at the same time so much more rewarding too.

After several glasses of wine I find it stops me able to hold a book Rofl

At your age, you should be able to hold your beverage! A bottle might be different.
