How I agree with your comment about slot cars being too shiny.

It's particularly relevant to meetings like Bordo (Bordeaux) where the marks are split between the racing and concours. Like you, I spend a long time getting cars to be as accurate as possible whilst getting the feel of the real car even if it takes small adjustments here and there.

Given my results in the concours, I might as well not have bothered. The winners (with a few exceptions) were very shiny indeed and, in general, just kits well finished.

Looking at one of my spreadsheets, I came 2nd overall in the racing but 16th in the concours. In 24th scale I came nowhere because no-one would believe that Old Yeller was a hot rod/custom car and not just another sports car - even after all this time it still rankles Rofl

Bring on the rat racing!
